Hi everyone!
I’ve been looking for a new craft for a while now and have decided to try out watercolor!
Since I usually post on Wednesdays and watercolor starts with a “W,” I have dubbed this little adventure “Watercolor Wednesday.” I won’t be posting a watercolor article every Wednesday (because I’ll probably forget), but I will be posting several each month!
Get excited! Jo-Ann’s had a ton of 50% off coupons floating around last week, so I decided to go ahead and pick up some watercolor supplies!
They had a big, pretty pack of 24 watercolors that I really wanted to buy, but I was sensible and chose to buy the small (way less exciting) 12 pack.ย If I get really good at watercolors, you better believe I will go back and buy the big pack of paints!
I also bought a paint palette (all my other ones are gross and not good for pictures), some paint brushes (I have lots of paint brushes, but I use them all for acrylics), and some watercolor paper. (I really needed this. I don’t have any other watercolor paper lying around!) I began testing my skills with some doodles and brush lettering.
If you follow me on Instagram (which you definitely should), you would know that I took up brush lettering earlier in the summer.ย Conveniently enough, those skills transferred over, and I feel somewhat confident in my ability to letter with an actual paint brush! Yay! I really love how my little lemon turned out! Too cute!!
After painting such an adorable lemon, I got confident in my skills and decided to paint a phrase. Now this right here is what happens when you aren’t paying attention to your work!ย Such a sad, sad typo!
I was paying more attention to Gilmore Girls than I was my words and ended up making a fatal mistake! ๐
I actually caught the mistake as soon as I finished the “e” in “dream” but decided to just go ahead and finish it anyway. Next time I’ll pause my Netflix when I’m working on something semi-tedious!
Lesson learned!
I hope you enjoyed this little intro to Watercolor Wednesday!
