July Functional Planner Stickers: Free Printable - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

Hello, Planner Friends!

How many of you moved into your new Erin Condren LifePlanner this week?! I sure did! I’m loving the painted petals this year. They’re so very fun!

I say this every month, but this year really is flying by! It’s already half over. My goodness!

July Functional Planner Stickers: Free Printable - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

For this month’s functional freebie, I played around with textures and created an inky, watercolor look. I added in some darker navy tones along with a little bit of dark teal. I love how it all turned out!

July Functional Planner Stickers: Free Printable - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

Before I give you the sticker freebie file, there are a few things I’d like to say.  I spent a lot of time designing and creating this printable, so please be kind when you use it.

  • Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes printables are for personal use only
  • You may not re-sell, re-distribute, or claim this work as your own
  • If you post this on the internet, please give the credit to Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes and link it back to my blog (www.pinkbowstwinkletoes.com)

Enough of the heavy stuff! Now it’s time for the fun!

I’m providing you this printable in both a PNG and PDF file format.  I’ve found that the PNG prints richer colors than the PDF.  It’s up to you which file you use though!

To download the PNG file:

  1. Click on the image above
  2. Click “view full size”
  3. Right click and save image
  4. Open saved file and print
  5. PLAN!!

If you skip step 2 and don’t click the “view full size” button, the image will save in a much smaller format and will print incorrectly.

You can download the PDF sticker file here, PBTT July Functional Sticker Sheet.

Hand Lettering: Water Brush 103

Hello everyone!

I know it’s been quite some time since I posted an article in this series.  I didn’t forget about my Water Brush series, I just switched platforms and forgot to tell you all!  I apologize for that! 🙁

Several weeks ago, I switched this series over to my Instagram Stories.  Every Wednesday, I post 5ish lettering videos of my water brush practice on my Story for my followers to enjoy!

img_7947

Two weeks ago, I finished the lowercase alphabet.

img_8297

Last week, I started working on numbers and will finish up numbers 5-9 on my Instagram Stories tomorrow afternoon.

Once I finish working on numbers, I’m going to move on to uppercase letters.  After that, I’ll move on to practicing full words!

Follow me on Instagram so you never miss a minute of my lettering journey!

You can follow me on Instagram @pinkbowstwinkletoes 🙂

I’ve been having a great deal of fun recording these videos and hope you all enjoy them too!

Happy Lettering!

Hand Lettering: Water Brush 102

Hello everyone!

I’ve made a tiny bit of progress since my last water brush lettering post!

img_5276

I’ve moved on from the basic strokes to some lowercase letters.

I’m using the Brush Letter Practice Guide from @randomolive.  Her guides are helping me to perfect my letter forms with the water brush!

The Brush Letter Practice Guide comes with uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and more!  It’ll take me a month or two to complete the guide, but I’m excited for all my progress along the way!

img_5395

I mentioned in my last post that I wanted to get a smaller water brush!  I was able to get my hands on one and made this little comparison sheet for you.

The top, blue strokes are from the new, small brush, and the lower, green strokes are from my original, medium brush.

The difference between the two is slight, but I think it’s making a big difference for me.  I much prefer the smaller brush! 🙂

Here are a few action shots for you!

For some reason, I prefer lowercase to uppercase when I’m lettering.  I don’t know why, but I do!

img_5796

I practiced the first five letters of the alphabet.  I’m going to tackle the rest of the alphabet next!  Then I will move on to those pesky, capital letters! 🙂

I’ll be back soon with another water brush update!

Happy lettering! 🙂

Hand Lettering: Water Brush 101

Hello everyone!

I have an exciting announcement to share with you all!  Those that follow me on Instagram have probably already heard, but for those who haven’t, I’m happy to share with you that I was chosen to be a brush lettering tutor on the Random Olive Tutor Team!

img_4427

You can read more about the Tutor Team and the other awesome tutors by clicking here.

Olivia from Random Olive is a fantastic letterer that I discovered on Instagram many months ago.  She does a lot with watercolor and water brush lettering!  I’ve been using brush pens for over a year now and after being chosen for her Tutor Team, I have decided to give water brush lettering a try!

img_4492

I’m starting my water brush lettering journey with a few basic supplies:

The Brush Letter Guide I linked above is quite large!  I only printed off the first ten pages or so to start.

I mainly focused on the basic strokes (down stroke, up stroke, and combinations of the two) during my first practice session.

img_4503

I started with the basic down stroke page.

Using a water brush is completely different than using a brush pen, so while this exercise may look super easy, it’s actually a tad difficult!

As you can see, I had trouble with consistentcy! That’s something that can be fixed with practice though!

img_4507

Here is some of my “U” practice.

It’ll take me a while to get used to all the moving bristles of a water brush!

Pentel makes their Aquash pens in several different sizes.  I bought a medium tip because that is all they had at Michaels.  After this first round of practice, I have decided that a small tipped brush may be easier for me and produce better lettering!

I’ve found the small brush on Amazon and will be purchasing it very soon!

img_4517

In the meantime, here is a photo of my first attempt at letters.

As you can see, the medium brush (or maybe it’s just me!) makes the letters rather chunky looking!  I think with a smaller brush, I will be able to produce better letters.

I’ll be back again soon with more water brush lettering updates!  In the meantime, follow me on Instagram for more lettering fun! 🙂

Happy Lettering!

Watercolor Wednesday – Pineapple Practice!

Hi everyone!

I have some watercolor trial and error paintings to share with you on this Watercolor Wednesday!

IMG_4078I bought a few new watercolor brushes at Michael’s over the weekend, and I couldn’t wait to try them out!

There are a few things I would really like to change about these paintings, but since I’ve only been practicing for a little over a week, I don’t think these are too bad!

IMG_4085I got the idea to paint a pineapple off of Pinterest!

If it weren’t for the one rouge triangle (I’m sure you can guess which one I’m talking about), I would absolutely love this!

I got a little wild and used two different greens for the leaves!  I used a darker blue green and a lighter yellow green.  I think the effect is quite nice! 🙂

The pineapple was pretty easy, so I’ll definitely be trying it again soon!

IMG_4088I love the way these flowers turned out! I’m pretty happy with the “bloom” too!

My paint set didn’t come with a purple, so I mixed a few colors to make my own.

Next time, I’ll use a smaller brush for the stems.  They’re just a little too thick for my liking!  I’ll also make the stems a little longer (or move the bow up a little), so there’s greenery coming out of the bottom of the bow.

IMG_4075

All in all, I’m pretty pleased with this week’s paintings!

I’ll be back next week with some more progress!

Happy Crafting!!

Watercolor Wednesday – The Adventure Begins

Hi everyone!

I’ve been looking for a new craft for a while now and have decided to try out watercolor!

Since I usually post on Wednesdays and watercolor starts with a “W,” I have dubbed this little adventure “Watercolor Wednesday.” I won’t be posting a watercolor article every Wednesday (because I’ll probably forget), but I will be posting several each month!

Get excited! IMG_3920Jo-Ann’s had a ton of 50% off coupons floating around last week, so I decided to go ahead and pick up some watercolor supplies!

They had a big, pretty pack of 24 watercolors that I really wanted to buy, but I was sensible and chose to buy the small (way less exciting) 12 pack.  If I get really good at watercolors, you better believe I will go back and buy the big pack of paints!

I also bought a paint palette (all my other ones are gross and not good for pictures), some paint brushes (I have lots of paint brushes, but I use them all for acrylics), and some watercolor paper. (I really needed this. I don’t have any other watercolor paper lying around!) IMG_3965I began testing my skills with some doodles and brush lettering.

If you follow me on Instagram (which you definitely should), you would know that I took up brush lettering earlier in the summer.  Conveniently enough, those skills transferred over, and I feel somewhat confident in my ability to letter with an actual paint brush! Yay! IMG_3966I really love how my little lemon turned out! Too cute!!

After painting such an adorable lemon, I got confident in my skills and decided to paint a phrase. IMG_3968Now this right here is what happens when you aren’t paying attention to your work!  Such a sad, sad typo!

I was paying more attention to Gilmore Girls than I was my words and ended up making a fatal mistake! 🙁

I actually caught the mistake as soon as I finished the “e” in “dream” but decided to just go ahead and finish it anyway. Next time I’ll pause my Netflix when I’m working on something semi-tedious!

Lesson learned!

I hope you enjoyed this little intro to Watercolor Wednesday!

I’ll be back next week with (hopefully) no typos! Bow signature pink

A Few Things Friday!

Happy Friday!!

It’s been quite a while since I’ve done a Friday post!  My randomly busy summer schedule has been getting in the way of my blog writing! Luckily, my summer schoolwork will be ending soon, so I can get back to posting!

I was looking on Pinterest the other day when I stumbled upon Stephanie Ryan Art.

The embedded link takes you to her Etsy shop, which is filled with tons of bright and beautiful watercolor paintings!

I have decided that a few of these painting will look FANTASTIC in my new apartment!

Here are a few of my favorites!

I love how colorful and vibrant this one is!

I think it would look great in the living room or the kitchen!

I love that this one is a heart! Super cute!!

Each of these paintings would look perfect in a shabby chic picture frame!

I just love how happy all these paintings are!

I think they will add some fun to my new apartment with Kylie!  Our current apartment is very dull and quite ugly!

I can’t wait to move in and decorate our new one!

Have a fantastic weekend!
