Easy DIY: Velvet Ribbon Bows

Hello, crafters!

It’s been WAY too long since I posted a crafting tutorial for you all! Today is the day that I finally post a brand-new how-to for you! (Wasn’t that a fun rhyme?!) 🙂

You might’ve already guessed this, but today we will be making bows! I LOVE bows. They are just darling and can be added to pretty much anything and will up the cute factor by over 1,000%!

Easy DIY: Velvet Ribbon Bows - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

A few months back, I got the hankering to make bows and not just any bows. I really wanted to make velvet bows! So, I hopped in the car, went to Hobby Lobby, and picked up three beautiful spools of 7/8 inch velvet ribbon!

If you follow me on Instagram, then you might’ve caught my post and Story from a while back where I talked you through two of my favorite types of bows! (I have a third favorite, but I’m going to save that tutorial for another day!)

Hand Lettering: Water Brush 103

Hello everyone!

I know it’s been quite some time since I posted an article in this series.  I didn’t forget about my Water Brush series, I just switched platforms and forgot to tell you all!  I apologize for that! 😦

Several weeks ago, I switched this series over to my Instagram Stories.  Every Wednesday, I post 5ish lettering videos of my water brush practice on my Story for my followers to enjoy!

img_7947

Two weeks ago, I finished the lowercase alphabet.

Last week, I started working on numbers and will finish up numbers 5-9 on my Instagram Stories tomorrow afternoon.

Once I finish working on numbers, I’m going to move on to uppercase letters.  After that, I’ll move on to practicing full words!

Follow me on Instagram so you never miss a minute of my lettering journey!

You can follow me on Instagram @pinkbowstwinkletoes 🙂

I’ve been having a great deal of fun recording these videos and hope you all enjoy them too!

Happy Lettering!

Easy DIY: Felt Pom Pom Garland

Hello Crafters!

I have a super easy, super fun, and super cute DIY project to share with you today!

img_7419

Supplies:

  • Felt Balls (I bought this pack on Amazon)
  • Twine
  • Sharp scissors
  • Large eye needle
  • Clear nail polish (optional)

img_7400

The felt balls I purchased are a grab bag of 50, so I had no idea what colors I was going to get until I opened the package.

1) Separate your felt balls by color

This will make it much easier to see what colors you have and what color scheme you want for your garland.

img_7402

2) Choose your garland color

After looking at my color choices, I chose orange, purple, and pink for my first garland.

img_7401

3) Lay your balls out in some sort of pattern

I chose an alternating pattern, because my choices were limited by the number of purple balls I had.

img_7403

4) Thread your large eye needle with twine

I chose white twine for this garland, because I thought it would go best with my color palette.

img_7404

5) Begin stringing your garland

I eyeballed where I thought the middle of each pom pom was and threaded them accordingly.  If your balls aren’t perfectly centered, that’s okay!  I know that a few of mine are a little wonky!  That just adds a littler personality to the project! 🙂

img_7405

6) Keep on threading

img_7406

Once all your pom poms are threaded, we’re going to tie off the garland.

7) Create a small loop at the end of your garland

You can either cut your twine before or after creating your loop.  I cut my thread after just in case something went wrong with the string or loop.

img_7407

8) Tie a knot to create a small loop for hanging your garland

9) Cut off the excess twine

img_7408

10) Do steps 7-9 again to create another loop on the other side of the garland

(Optional step) 11) Paint your knots with clear nailpolish

I like to paint my knots with polish to insure that they don’t come untied at any time.

img_7409

12) Enjoy your pretty new garland!

img_7421

After looking at my felt balls again, I saw that I had enough neutral ones to make another garland!

img_7410

I used cream, taupe, and black for my second garland.

img_7411

I went with a similar alternating design for this garland too.

img_7412

In about 20 minutes, I made two very pretty, very fun garlands!

These beauties are going to be perfect for photo props, bedroom/office decor, and party decor!

I hope you enjoyed this super easy garland tutorial!

Christmas Art Print: Free Download

Hello everyone!

Christmas is almost here, and I’m super excited! Are you?!

I have a Christmas themed art print to share with you today!  As you know, I love my brush pens and hand lettering.  For the past few days, I have been working on transforming a few of my lettering projects into digital art prints! So exciting!! 🙂

img_5907

This free download would be perfect for a last minute Christmas or hostess gift, planner dashboard, party decor, etc!  The possibilities are practically endless with this one!

img_5927

My “Merry & Bright” print is available in both red and green.  It’s formatted to be a 5×7 but can easily be transformed into an 8×10 by leaving a 3″ white border around the edges.

I really love the look of the 8×10!  I think the white border adds a little something to it!  It’s up to you which size you’d like though.

img_5922

You can print this art on any kind of paper you’d like, but I think this canvas texture cardstock is a fantastic choice!  The canvas look adds a little something to the print and in my opinion, makes it look nicer.

I got this pack at Jo-Ann Fabrics, but you can probably find something similar at other arts and crafts stores.
