Hi everyone!
I have another embroidery project to share!
I made this little hedgehog for my best friend, Kylie, for Valentine’s Day! I know that Valentine’s Day has passed, but I couldn’t post my tutorial until after I gave it to her!
Supplies:
- Doodle Stitching The Motif Collection by Aimee Ray (Get a copy here!)
- Embroidery hoop (I chose a 4″ hoop)
- Embroidery floss
- Needle
- Pencil
- Fabric (I used muslin)
- 321 – red
- 840 – light brown
- 838 – dark brown
As you can see, I had an issue with 838!
Somehow, my thread turned into a delightful, brown knot! So much fun! 😉

We’ll be using this little guy from the Woodland Animals section of Doodle Stitching! Start by hooping your fabric and tracing on the hedgehog motif.
I tried my best to center him! If it ends up really crooked, you can always go back and fix the fabric! Using the light brown thread and the Back Stitch, we’re going to stitch around the body.
Continue stitching up and around his back.
Use the dark brown thread and the Satin Stitch to create his eyes and nose.
The spines are very easy to stitch.
Using the Straight Stitch, start at one end of the pencil line and stitch to the other.
Each spine should be made up of only one stitch. Continue adding spines.
After adding all the spines that we’re traced on the fabric, I filled in a few holes. Time to add some little hearts!
Each heart is made of two Lazy Daisy stitches.
Once all the hearts are added, our cute, little hedgehog is complete!
Happy (super belated) Valentine’s Day!!
Cute!
