“The Cool Cut” is the theme for the October box.  Sephora has dubbed all of these products as the ones to watch!

Sephora does it again with the adorable doodles!

  • NUDESTIX – Intense Matte Lip + Cheek Pencil in Belle

I love sampling lip colors, so I was rather pumped when I pulled both of these out of my drawstring bag.

Smashbox – Always On Matte Liquid Lipstick in Driver’s Seat

I’m not a huge fan of matte lipsticks, but I love this one! The formula is smooth, and the applicator is great!

Unfortunately, this shade is a little too orange for me, so I’m going to look into purchasing this product in a rosier hue!

NUDESTIX – Intense Matte Lip + Cheek Pencil in Belle

This stick is pretty cool and has a multitude of uses.  It can be used as a lip liner, lipstick, and a cheek color!  I’ve tried it all three ways and think it’s better suited for my lips than my cheeks.

I think this stick has a hint of orange in it just like the lipstick above.  It’s more wearable for me than the Smashbox lip color though.

img_4156

Too Cool For School – Egg Mellow Cream

I’ve gotten a few freebie, foil packet samples of this product with previous Sephora purchases but haven’t actually given it a try until now.

This is another one of those “do it all” products.  It can be used as a serum, priming moisturizer, eye cream, neck cream, and sleeping mask.  I’ve chosen to use it as an eye cream for now.

The egg extract in this cream certainly gives it a more gooey texture, but I like it.  I don’t know why, but I do!

img_4172

Skin Inc. – Pure Revival Peel

This skin peel is so cool!  I’ve only used it once, but I already love it!

After rubbing it on my face for a few seconds, I could feel (and see) the dead skin balling up and coming off of my face! I know that sounds disgusting, but it’s also really cool!

I’m definitely going to continue using this product! Who knows, I might even purchase it when my sample runs out!

img_4154

Verb – Leave-In Mist

I’m a dork and totally thought that this product’s main function was as a leave-in conditioner!  It wasn’t until I watched Sephora’s unboxing video (and used the mist) that I realized that wasn’t actually the case! Whoopsie!!

This leave-in mist’s main function is as a heat protector. I don’t have a travel size heat protecting spray, so this will serve me well the next time I leave town!

img_4175

TOM FORD – Orchid Soleil

As I’m sure you’ve figured out by now, I’m not a huge fan of most perfume-y smells.  Sadly this perfume doesn’t agree with me.  That’s okay though!  I don’t ever expect to enjoy the perfume samples, so it’s always an exciting surprise when I do.  Perhaps I’ll enjoy next month’s sample!

img_4181

I think the phrase on this month’s bag is cute, but I don’t necessarily love the execution.

I’ve loved every other bag they’ve given out, so I knew there would be one I didn’t like at some point!

Perhaps I’ll give this baggie to a lipstick-loving friend of mine! 🙂

img_4185

This wasn’t my favorite month of PLAY! by Sephora, but I still ended up with some great products that I know I’ll use!

November Functional Planner Stickers: Free Printable

Hello Planner Friends!

It’s time for my monthly, free printable release!

november-functional-sticker-sheet

I know it’s still October, but I figured I’d release next month’s functional printable a little earlier for those who’d like to use it during the first week of November.

I went with a snowflake/winter theme this month.  I know fall is still in full swing, but I thought the blues of November would look fantastic with some little, white snowflakes!

I’ve added a little shadow to the weekend banners and love the dimension it adds.  I hope you love it too! 🙂

Before I give you the printable file, there are a few things I’d like to say.  I spent a lot of time designing and creating this printable, so please be kind when you use it.

  • Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes printables are for personal use only
  • You may not re-sell, redistribute, or claim this work as your own
  • If you post this on the internet, please give the credit to Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes and link it back to my blog (pinkbowstwinkletoes.com)

Enough of the heavy stuff! Now it’s time for the stickers!

I’m providing you this printable in both a PNG and PDF file format. I’ve found that the PNG prints richer colors than the PDF. It’s up to you which file you use though!

To download the PNG file:

  1. Click on the image above
  2. Click “view full size”
  3. Right click and save image
  4. Open saved file and print
  5. PLAN!!

If you skip step 2 and don’t click the “view full size” button, the image will save in a much smaller format and will print incorrectly.

You can download the PDF file here, PBTT November Functional Sticker Sheet.

Be sure to tag me in any and all Instagram posts featuring my stickers and your planner! (@pinkbowstwinkletoes and #pinkbowstwinkletoes)  I would love to see what you do with them! :)

Happy Planning!

img_3982

Henri Bendel – Packable Umbrella – Retail Value $58

I was so excited when I saw POPSUGAR’s sneak peek of this item earlier in the month! I received an umbrella from POPSUGAR last year and absolutely love it!  It’s my go-to umbrella on rainy days!  I’m sure I’ll be getting a lot of use out of this umbrella too!

I love the chocolate brown and white stripes with the raspberry accents.  So pretty!

img_3956

Lalicious – Brown Sugar Vanilla Shower Oil and Bubble Bath – Retail Value $28

I always enjoy receiving body wash in my subscription boxes.  I’ve gotten so many in the past that it’ll be a while before I have to go out and buy any myself!

My only complaint about this product is the scent.  I know vanilla is a standard scent that the majority of people enjoy, however, I am not one of them.  I’ll most likely end up giving this product to a friend who will enjoy it more than me.

img_3971

My Cup of Cocoa – Dark Drinking Chocolate – Retail Value $4.99

As you know, I always look forward to the edible item that POPSUGAR includes every month.  This drinking chocolate did not disappoint!

The chocolate powder mixes with milk to create a deliciously creamy treat! 🙂

img_3981

Morning Culture – Rise & Shine Diner Mug – Retail Value $16

These days I’m a huge fan of mugs and trinket dishes to hold all of my pens and planner supplies!

I’m sure I’ll drink something (perhaps the drinking chocolate?) out of this mug at some point, but right now, it’s sitting on my dresser holding several pairs of scissors!

img_3959

Makeup Eraser – The Makeup Eraser Mini! – Retail Value $12

A good friend of mine has a Makeup Eraser and absolutely loves it!  After her rave reviews, I was very excited to give this little guy a try.

I’ve used it a few times now, and it’s been working really well.  The cloth is very soft and more gentle on my skin than the typical makeup remover wipe!

img_3953

Power Your Happy by Lisa Sugar – Retail Value $25

Motivational books aren’t typically my style, but I’m enjoying this one so far!

I’m going to keep Power Your Happy by my bedside and read a little bit each night.  I’m sure I’ll be finished with it in no time!

img_3962

Revlon – ColorStay Liquid Eye Pen – Retail Value $8.99

If you’ve read my last couple of subscription box review posts, you know by now that eyeliner and I aren’t the best of friends.  This is another product that I’ll be giving away to a better home!

One neat thing I’ll mention about the eyeliner is that its felt tip is designed in a way that provides you with three different line thicknesses.  You can see a little sample of the thicknesses on the packaging above. If I was an eyeliner user, I think I’d find that feature pretty handy!

img_3996

The total retail value for the October box is $152.98.  That’s not too shabby!

I’m very pleased with five of the seven items included this month! And I’m sure my friends will be very pleased by the two items that I’ve chosen to give away!

Top 5 Favorite Hand Lettering Supplies

Hello everyone!

I figured I’d change pace this week and write a post about hand lettering!  I’ve been lettering for a little over a year now, and I’ve learned a lot and developed a few favorites along the way!

So today I’m sharing with you my all-time favorite lettering supplies!

  1. Brush Pens!  Below is a breakdown of all the brush pens I own!

img_3830

Tombow Dual Brush Pens

I’ve tried MANY different brush pens over the last year, and Tombows are the best!  As you can see, I have quite a few of them! Seventy-four to be exact!  I have a few duplicates though.

I’ve gotten the majority of these online, either from Amazon or Jo-Ann Fabrics.  Unfortunately, no one in my area sells these markers, so I’ve had to buy all but four of them online.

img_3358

Here’s an example of my lettering with the Tombow Dual Brush Pens.  Tombows have the largest brush tip out of all of my brush pens (see below), so I always use them for my larger works.

img_3809

To make up for the fact that I can’t buy Tombows in person, I buy every other brush pen I come across!

img_3823

Marvy Uchida makes my second favorite brush pen.  These are the ColorIn Brush Marker.

I purchased these at Michael’s and Hobby Lobby.  I have also seen some for sale at Jo-Ann Fabrics.  For some reason, I am unable to find them online at any of those stores.  However, I was able to find them on Scrapbook.com.

img_3069

Here’s some of my lettering with the Marvy markers. The tips on these markers is a little bit smaller than the Tombow markers.  I like to use them when writing small, more compact words and phrases.

img_3819

Crayola markers are also great for lettering!  They don’t have a brush tip like the pens above, but the broad tip does create a brush-like effect when used correctly.

img_3602

My work with the Crayola markers.

When shopping for Crayola markers, I decided to buy the Pip-Squeaks because that pack had the most color variation of all the markers that Jo-Ann had in stock.

My only complaint about the Pip-Squeaks is that they are a little too small for my hands! I should have expected that when I bought them, but I didn’t realize the pressure from my writing would snap the cap off the back of the marker almost every time I go to use them! That’ll teach me to be a little more gentle!

I’ve seen lots of great work with the Super Tips, so I think I’ll end up purchasing and trying those next!

img_3816

Here are a few other pens I’ve tried.  I really like the markers on the left side of this image, but I don’t really care for the types on the right.

Starting in the bottom left-hand corner and then going clock-wise:

  • Tombow Fudenosuke: These are my favorite markers for really small work. They come in both a hard nib and a soft nib. I’ve tried both nibs and have determined that I like the hard nib the best! I have more control and make smoother lines with the hard nibbed pen.
  • Hampton Art Studio G Marker: These are the best metallic brush pens I’ve found so far!  They are very pigmented and smooth! I bought mine at Michaels for less than $1 with a coupon.  What a deal!!
  • Copic Markers: These are the most expensive brush pens I’ve ever purchased, and they are also my least favorite.  They have a brush tip, but I believe they’re better suited for coloring in illustrations than lettering.
  • Pigma Brush by Sakura: These markers aren’t bad.  I just prefer my other ones!

img_2173

Here’s some smaller writing with a Marvy pen and Tombow Fudenosuke.

   2. Rhodia Paper Pads

img_3833

Over the past year, I’ve tried several different types of paper for my lettering.  I’ve tried all different kinds of sketch pads and notebooks papers.

The best paper I’ve come across is the Rhodia pad.  I have both dotted pads and blank ones in various sizes.

For those of you that follow me on Instagram, you may have seen little, tiny dots on my lettering pages.  The dots are more subtle than lines, and help me space my lettering and such.  Right now, I prefer the dotted pages to the blank ones.  That may change in the future though!

The easiest place for me to buy these notebooks is on Amazon.

img_3849

3. A sharp pencil is always nice to have.  Some people like to write their words in pencil first and then trace over them.  I’m more of the wing-it type, so I mainly use my pencil for drawing straight lines!

4. An eraser is also good to have on hand.  I like white erasers because then you don’t have to worry about any dyes transferring to your paper.  I believe I got this PaperMate eraser at Staples or maybe Target.

5. A lettering challenge is a must for when you run out of things to write!  After a few weeks, you may run out of new things to write.  This is when a monthly, lettering challenge is ideal!

A monthly, lettering challenge is just what it sounds like.  Every day of the month there is a new word or phrase for you to practice writing.

I’ve been participating in a lettering challenge with @randomolive for three months now.  You may have been wondering why a lot of the examples above are apples names. That’s because apples were the theme of the September challenge with @randomolive.

You can search hashtags like #brushletterpracticechallenge, #letteringchallenge, #brushletterchallenge, etc. to find other challenges and letterers to follow!

img_3854

Along with @randomolive, I also enjoy following @amandaarneill and @piecescalligraphy on Instagram.

I discovered @amandaarneill on Instagram last summer and that’s where my lettering journey started.  I spent hours watching her 15 second lettering videos over and over again while I waited for my Tombow Dual Brush Pens to come in the mail! 🙂

This month’s challenge with @randomolive involves Halloween candy!  Be sure to follow me on Instagram (@pinkbowstwinkletoes) to see what I do with this month’s challenge and theme! 🙂

Happy Lettering!

pbtt-october-functional-sticker-sheet

I added some fun, pumpkin elements to this month’s printable!  I hope you love them as much as I do!
