Easy DIY: Washi Tape Birthday Card - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

Easy DIY: Washi Tape Birthday Card

I love giving gifts, but I’m not so great at giving cards with them. I’m more focused on the gift itself (gifts are my love language after all) than I am on the card, so if you do happen to get one from me, consider yourself lucky! All that is soon to change though with this super easy DIY washi tape birthday card. With a few supplies and a few minutes, you can make the cutest candle card to accompany any celebratory gift!

Washi Tape Birthday Card

Take one greeting card and set it down open side toward you.

Next, take one piece of washi and place it in the middle of your card about halfway up.

Once you have your tape where you want it, trim as close to the card as you can without cutting into the card. If you do accidentally cut into the card, that’s okay! I definitely did once or twice!

Continue placing and trimming tape until you reach the edge of the card.

I added my patterned tapes in random order, but you could do an alternating pattern or something like that if you’d like! That would be super cute!

When you reach the edge, you may notice that your last piece of tape extends beyond the side of the card.

If that’s the case, trim the bottom as usual and also trim the tape on the side.

Now that you have one side done, start adding tape “candles” in the other direction. As you’re adding tape, make sure to vary the height of each strip.

There’s no rhyme or reason to how I varied my tape height. I just kept shifting up and down.

When you get to the other edge, trim the excess tape off the bottom and the side just like before.

When you’re all done adding tape, your card should look something like this.

Take the yellow marker and begin adding teardrops (flames) above each candle. Leave a little bit of space between the bottom of each teardrop and the top of each candle.

Your card should look something like this when you finish with the teardrops.

Begin adding wicks to connect each candle with its flame.

Start a little below the center of each teardrop and draw a straight line down to the top of each candle. Be careful not to touch your black pen to the washi tape.

Work your way across the card until each candle has a wick.

Ta-da! Look how cute your candles are!

Now, you’re all set to add a message to your washi tape birthday card and give it to a friend!

It’s been WAY too long since I posted a crafting tutorial for you all! Today is the day that I finally post a brand-new how-to for you! (Wasn’t that a fun rhyme?!) πŸ™‚

You might’ve already guessed this, but today we will be making ribbon bows! I LOVE bows. They are just darling and can be added to pretty much anything and will up the cute factor by over 1,000%!

Easy DIY: Velvet Ribbon Bows - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

A few months back, I got the hankering to make bows and not just any bows. I really wanted to make velvet bows! So, I hopped in the car, went to Hobby Lobby, and picked up three beautiful spools of 7/8 inch velvet ribbon!

If you follow me on Instagram, then you might’ve caught my post and Story from a while back where I talked you through two of my favorite types of bows! (I have a third favorite, but I’m going to save that tutorial for another day!)

DIY Christmas Gift Tags: Free Printable

Merry Christmas everyone!

I have a second free printable to share with you this month! Instead of my usual planner printable, this one is for DIY Christmas gift tags!

pbtt-diy-christmas-gift-tags

As you can see, the printable includes a variety of both horizontal and vertical tags.Β  I used some of the patterns from my Christmas and winter printables for these tags along with some newer patterns!

img_5591

You can use this printable two ways!Β  You can print the tags on card stock, cut them out, and tie them to your packages with ribbon and twine. You can also print these on sticker paper, cut them out, and then adhere them directly to your presents! πŸ™‚

If you want the tags larger or smaller than I’ve designed them, simply print the file at 80%, 125%, etc. until they’re the size you want!

Before I give you the printable file, there are a few things I’d like to say.Β  I spent a lot of time designing and creating this printable, so please be kind when you use it.

  • Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes printables are for personal use only
  • You may not re-sell, redistribute, or claim this work as your own
  • If you post this on the internet, please give the credit to Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes and link it back to my blog (pinkbowstwinkletoes.com)

Enough of the heavy stuff! Now it’s time for the gift tags!

You can download the printable file here, PBTT Printable Gift Tags.
