PLAY! By Sephora Review: June 2017

Hello all!

My PLAY! Box has arrived! I try my best to avoid all spoilers so that my box remains a true surprise when it arrives each month.

PLAY! By Sephora Review: June 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

The June box is all about summertime!

PLAY! By Sephora Review: June 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

Part of the June PLAY! BOOK includes tips on beating the heat this summer.

I love the mermaid, swimmer, and hula girl illustrations. They’re too cute!

Benefit Cosmetics: The POREfessional Face Primer

I’ve been using POREfessional for over three years now! I’ve tried many primers over the years, but I always come back to this one. It goes on very smooth and does a great job minimizing my pores.

My large bottle is almost empty, so I’m very pleased to receive this sample. I won’t have to buy another full-size bottle for a little while longer. Yay!!

PLAY! By Sephora Review: June 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

COOLA – Makeup Setting Spray SPF 30

I’ve received sunscreen setting sprays before. They’re a little thicker and greasier than regualr setting sprays but are SO much better than applying lotion sunscreens on top of your makeup!

I haven’t been able to locate my other sunscreen setting spray, so I’m happy to receive this one just in time for summer! I could’ve definitely used it over Memorial Day Weekend and will have many other opportunities to use it as the summer progresses.

PLAY! By Sephora Review: June 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

Verb – Sea Spray

It wouldn’t be summer if I didn’t receive a sea spray in a subscription box! I received some last summer and will surely receive more this summer.

I don’t have much luck with sea sprays. My hair always ends up looking ratty and like I haven’t brushed it! Because of that, I gave this spray to my sister-in-law for her to play with!

PLAY! By Sephora Review: June 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

Kat Von D – Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Lovesick

I always love a lipstick sample! This one looks very similar to the NARS liquid lip I received a few months ago. However, this liquid lip is matte. I’m not usually drawn to matte lipsticks, but I really like this one!

Lovesick is a mauve nude that adds just the right amount of color to my lips. It’s nautral and great for everyday wear. I’ve worn it several times already and have added it to the growing collection of lipsticks that I keep in my purse!

PLAY! By Sephora Review: June 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

Klorane – Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk

I’m a firm believer in washing my hair, so I don’t ever use dry shampoos. I used to try them in high school but never liked how my hair felt afterward. I have a friend who LOVES dry shampoo, so I’ll probably end up giving this sample to her.

PLAY! By Sephora Review: June 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

BVLGARI – Omnia Crystaline

As always, the fragrance samples just aren’t my thing! I don’t subscribe for the fragrance, so that’s okay!

PLAY! By Sephora Review: June 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

Drawstring Bag

More cute swimmers! I love it! 🙂

I always look forward to seeing what Sephora comes up with each month for these bags!

IMG_3991

I like half of this month’s products. One of which I’ll use everyday! The ratio of love/hate could be better, but I’m okay with it this month.

PLAY! by Sephora Review: May 2017

Hello, hello!

My tracking is always off for the PLAY! by Sephora box, so it’s always a surprise when it pops up in my mailbox! I love mail, especially surprise mail, so I’m okay with it!

IMG_3016

Sephora did something fun with this month’s PLAY! BOOK! I love learning new things about my favorite stores!

PLAY! by Sephora Review: May 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

Unfortunately, my favorite doodles didn’t make an appearance this month! Hopefully, they’ll be back again next month!

PLAY! by Sephora Review: May 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

Box Contents:

 • NUDESTIX – Magnetic Matte Lip Color in Greystone
 • Skin Laundry – Gentle Foaming Wash
 • Belif – Hungarian Water Essence
 • Trèstique – Highlight + Perfect Multipurpose Stick in Maldives Luminescent
 • Rahua – Omega 9 Hair Mask
 • Tocca – Stella
 • Envelope Bag

PLAY! by Sephora Review: May 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

NUDESTIX – Magnetic Matte Lip Color in Greystone

As you know, I love receiving lip colors in my subscription boxes! As soon as I pulled this lip color from my box, I was skeptical. It’s a dark brown color, which I find a tad odd. I applied it and thought it made me look a little like death! I have very fair skin, and brown is so not my color! 🙂

One of my best friends also subscribes to PLAY! and described this lipstick at chocolate on her lips!! How funny is that?!

PLAY! by Sephora Review: May 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

Skin Laundry – Gentle Foaming Wash

I’d never heard of this brand before receiving it in my box. A friend of mine had though and said it was pretty good! I’m very pleased with the size of this sample! It comes with more than enough product for you to form an honest opinion of it before you use it all up!

My skin has been a tad itchy and irritated these last few days. I’m not sure if it’s from this cleanser or one of the other products in my box this month.

PLAY! by Sephora Review: May 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

Belif – Hungarian Water Essence

This product really intrigued me! Hungarian water essence?! Doesn’t that just sound interesting!

As I mentioned above, my skin has been itchy and irritated this last week, so it’s either this product or the cleanser above that’s causing the problem. I’m going to wait a few weeks and then try these products individually to see which one is causing the irritation.

IMG_3009

Trèstique – Highlight + Perfect Multipurpose Stick in Maldives Luminescent

As you probably know by now, I don’t contour my face at all. Instead of using this as a highlighter, I’m using it as a multipurpose stick. I’ve been applying it as eye shadow for the last few days and love the color! It’s the prettiest champagne pink. Exactly what I like to use on my eyes!

PLAY! by Sephora Review: May 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

Rahua – Omega 9 Hair Mask

I discovered my favorite hair mask in a PLAY! box last summer. Before subscribing to this box, I’d never tried a hair mask before.

My favorite mask is from Briogeo. This one isn’t bad, but I don’t like it as much as the Briogeo one. I will finish off the bottle though! I think I have at least one, maybe two, conditions left!

IMG_3012

Tocca – Stella

I received a candle from Tocca in my last POPSUGAR box and LOVE the scent! I don’t, however, love the scent of this perfume.

That’s okay though. As you know, I don’t purchase this box for the fragrance samples. 🙂

PLAY! by Sephora Review: May 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

I LOVE this month’s bag! It’s made of thicker plastic and seems quite durable! I’m going out of town this week, so I’ll be using this bag to hold my liquids in my carry on!

PLAY! by Sephora Review: May 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

Overall, this month wasn’t that great for me. I am very pleased with the bag and multipurpose stick though!

POPSUGAR Must Have Review: May 2017

Hello, everyone!

It’s POPSUGAR Must Have time! One of my favorite times of the month!

POPSUGAR Must Have Review: May 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

Box Contents:

 • Lipstick Queen – Mornin’ Sunshine
 • Samantha Faye – Samantha Faye Inspiration Cuff
 • Tocca – Voyage Montauk 3 oz Candle
 • Swing Design – Essex Silver Plate Frame
 • Southern Culture Artisan Foods, Inc – Strawberry Cream Muffin Mix
 • Nicely Noted – Exclusive Must Have Card Collection

POPSUGAR Must Have Review: May 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

Lipstick Queen – Mornin’ Sunshine – Retail Value $25

I LOVE lip products, so I was super excited when I pulled this out of my box! I’d seen this yellow lipstick in an Ulta email (I think) a few weeks ago, so I knew that it was color changing as soon as I opened the package.

The yellow is supposed to change to a custom coral shade when you apply it. When I apply it, it turns a bright pink shade. It’s not coral in the slightest, but I still really like it! I’ve already worn it a few times and know I’ll continue wearing it throughout the summer months.

Samantha Faye – Samantha Faye Inspiration Cuff – Retail Value $60

This bracelet is a POPSUGAR exclusive, which is always fun! I like having products that are made especially for me (and thousands of other subscribers!)

“Be good Do good Feel good” is inscribed on the front of the cuff. I think it’s going to go really well with so many outfits! It’s simple + neutral and will blend with almost anything!

POPSUGAR Must Have Review: May 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

Tocca – Voyage Montauk 3 oz Candle – Retail Value $20

I LOVE candles! In my college apartment, I used to burn one at least five hours out of the day.

The scent is incredible! I love how fresh + clean cucumbers are! I haven’t lit it yet, but I can smell it unlit from across the room! Yum!!

POPSUGAR Must Have Review: May 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

Swing Design – Essex Silver Plate Frame – Retail Value $13

I love how classic + chic this frame is. The silver plating is very shiny and will compliment any decorating style. I’m partial to shabby chic and this will go so very well!

Now, I just have to decide what photo to put in it! 🙂

POPSUGAR Must Have Review: May 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

Southern Culture Artisan Foods, Inc – Strawberry Cream Muffin Mix – Retail Value $7.99

Muffins! YUM!

As soon as I saw this in my box, I’d knew they’d be perfect to make on Mother’s Day morning! My mom loved the idea as well!

POPSUGAR Must Have Review: May 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

To top off the muffins and make them a tad sweeter, I added some homemade strawberry sauce that my mom and I made after picking strawberries a few months ago!

POPSUGAR Must Have Review: May 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

Nicely Noted – Exclusive Must Have Card Collection – Retail Value $17.50

If you follow me on Instagram (which you should be! @pinkbowstwinkletoes), then you know how obsessed I am with pretty cards, stationery, and notebooks! These cards are right up my alley!

These are all so cute that I’m having trouble picking a favorite! I absolutely love the mix + match envelopes! I have a friend (maybe two) with summer birthdays, so I’ll get to use the “Summer Birthday Vibes” card very soon!

POPSUGAR Must Have Review: May 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

The total retail value for this month’s box is $143.49. That’s not too shabby!

I think my favorite items this month are the lipstick and the candle! I love everything though! There isn’t a single item from the May box that I won’t use. That’s fantastic!

PLAY! by Sephora Review: April 2017

Hello there!

It’s that time again! My PLAY! BOX has arrived, and I can’t wait to share it with you all!

PLAY! by Sephora Review: April 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

“Step it Up” is the theme for April. It’s all about updating your everyday routine.

Sephora mixed it up with the style of the April PLAY! BOOK. I love the little redhead that takes center stage this month! She’s so cute!

PLAY! by Sephora Review: April 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

I can’t help but miss the product illustrations! 🙁

They didn’t eliminate the doodles completely though, so I’m happy about that!

PLAY! by Sephora Review: April 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

Box Contents:

 • Peter Thomas Roth – Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Cream
 • Philosophy – Made Simple Face Cleanser
 • Smashbox – Iconic Photo Finish Foundation Primer
 • Make Up For Ever – Aqua XL Eye Pencil Waterproof Eyeliner
 • Sephora Collection – Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover
 • Miu Miu – L’Eau Bleue
 • Drawstring Bag

PLAY! by Sephora Review: April 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

Peter Thomas Roth – Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Cream

I don’t think I’ve ever tried any products from Peter Thomas Roth before. I’m always intrigued by brands I’ve never used before.

I’ve substituted this moisturizer into my evening moisturizing routine. It’s a little wet, but I expected that since “water” is in the name! I like it and will finish off the bottle. I don’t think I’ll be purchasing the full size anytime soon though.

PLAY! by Sephora Review: April 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

Philosophy – Made Simple Face Cleanser

I’ve received this Philosophy sample before but didnt actually try it until it arrived in my PLAY! BOX.

I love that this cleanser works as a makeup remover too. I don’t typically use makeup remover, so I always rely on my face wash to do the job. Sometimes, my face wash doesn’t completely get the job done. This cleanser sure does though!

I’ll definitely be finishing up this bottle. I might save it for traveling though. It’s the perfect sample size to slip into my travel bag!

PLAY! by Sephora Review: April 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

Smashbox – Iconic Photo Finish Foundation Primer

As you know, I love testing out different foundation primers. I’ve tried a few Smashbox primers before, but not this one.

I found this primer to be very wet. I’m not a huge fan of the texture either, so I don’t think I’ll be using this primer too often if at all. I will have to see if any of my friends are interested in giving it a try.

PLAY! by Sephora Review: April 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

Make Up For Ever – Aqua XL Eye Pencil Waterproof Eyeliner

I’ve mentioned in previous posts, that I’m not so good at applying eyeliner. I can’t see well enough and shake a little. That is not a recipe for flawless eyeliner application! 🙂

I love Make Up For Ever products, so I did test this eyeliner out! In the PLAY! BOOK, it gives explanations for easy, medium, and expect eyeliner application. I loved that! I tried out the “easy” application and added a little to my bottom waterline. It was super easy to do, and I liked the look. I think I’ll be adding it to my eye routine a couple times a week!

PLAY! by Sephora Review: April 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

Sephora Collection – Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover

As I mentioned above, I don’t typically use makeup remover. I probably should, but I’m just a little too lazy to add it to my routine.

I do like that Sephora included two products this month that would work on removing the waterproof eyeliner that was also included. That was great thinking on their part!

Although I don’t use remover often, I will save this for a time when I need it.

PLAY! by Sephora Review: April 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

Miu Miu – L’Eau Bleue

As usual, I’m not a fan of this month’s fragrance sample. I don’t buy this box for the perfume though, so that’s okay!

PLAY! by Sephora Review: April 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

As I mentioned above, I love the little redhead this month! She is just too cute!

The quote on this month’s bag is pretty fun too! “The best things in life are me!”

PLAY! by Sephora Review: April 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

This month’s box wasn’t super exciting for me. I love the illustrations and like a few of the products, but I don’t think I discovered any “must have” products for myself this month.

I’m excited to see what next month holds though!

POPSUGAR Must Have Review: April 2017

Hi everyone!

It’s always an exciting day when my POPSUGAR Must Have box arrives!

POPSUGAR Must Have Review: April 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

The theme words for April are rest, natural, healing, clean, grow, and spiritual. A soothing month for sure!

POPSUGAR Must Have Review: April 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

Box Contents:

 • Makerskit – Crystal Sand Art Terrarium Kit
 • Morning Culture – Dipped Bamboo Cutting Board
 • Tonic Australia – Lavender Sachets
 • The Cottage Greenhouse – Carrot & Neroli Rich & Repair Body Wash
 • Cocolab – Cocofloss
 • Nourish Snacks – Holy Habanero
 • Pronamel – Strong & Bright Enamel, Extra Fresh Toothpaste

POPSUGAR Must Have Review: April 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

Makerskit – Crystal Sand Art Terrarium Kit – Retail Value $32

This was one of the items that POPSUGAR sneak peeked in an email earlier this month. I’ve been wanting a crystal for a long time now, so I was super excited to see this kit in my box!

Unfortunately, my kit came broken, so I’m unable to make my little terrarium. POPSUGAR has fantastic customer service and my replacement terrarium is already in the mail!

Luckily, I was able to dig the undamaged amethyst crystal out of the box!

POPSUGAR Must Have Review: April 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

Morning Culture – Dipped Bamboo Cutting Board – Retail Value $22

I love the mug I received a few months ago from Morning Culture, so I was pleased to see another item from them in my box this month.

I haven’t taken the plastic off my cutting board yet, because I think it would be fantastic housewarming gift! The lavender paint is so pretty and would go very well in a shabby chic kitchen!

POPSUGAR Must Have Review: April 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

Tonic Australia – Lavender Sachets – Retail Value $15

How adorable are these little sachets?! I LOVE the the floral pattern and fabric ribbon they’re packaged with!

I’ve added both sachets to my pajama drawer and love how my jammies are smelling! 🙂

POPSUGAR Must Have Review: April 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

The Cottage Greenhouse – Carrot & Neroli Rich & Repair Body Wash – Retail Value $22

Continuing with the soothing theme, POPSUGAR included a body wash this month.

The Cottage Greenhouse gets an A++ on packaging from me! The fonts, the tags, the jute?! It all works together beautifully! Also, this body wash smells INCREDIBLE! It’s light and earthy with a touch of sweetness to it. I LOVE it! <3

POPSUGAR Must Have Review: April 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

Cocolab – Cocofloss – Retail Value $8

I’m terrible about flossing my teeth, so hopefully this fancy floss encourages me to do it a little more!

In my defesnse, I have a permanent retainer that makes flossing my bottom teeth quite difficult. Every time I go to the dentist, the hygienist grumbles about my retainer! I always get a little kick out of it! 🙂

Pronamel – Strong & Bright Enamel, Extra Fresh Toothpaste – Retail Value $5.99

I may not floss often, but I do brush my teeth twice a day! 🙂

The minty flavor of this toothpaste isn’t quite as minty as I would like, but I love that it whitens and strengthens. I’ll definitely be using the entire tube!

POPSUGAR Must Have Review: April 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

Nourish Snacks – Holy Habanero – Retail Value $1.99

As you all know, I love the snack that POPSUGAR includes each month. They’re usually funky things that I would never buy myself but would love to try!

I’m not into spicy foods, so I was worried about how spicy these corn bites were going to be. Surprisingly, I don’t find them to be all that spicy. I added a handful to a southwest salad I had for lunch a few days ago, and they were a pretty great addition.

POPSUGAR Must Have Review: April 2017 - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

The total retail value for the April box is $106.98. That’s pretty low for POPSUGAR but is still a great value!

The lavender sachets, carrot body wash, and amethyst crystal are my favorite items this month!

PLAY! by Sephora Review: March 2017

Hello friends!

It’s always such an exciting day when my PLAY! by Sephora box arrives on my doorstep. I can never keep up with the tracking for these boxes, so when they’ll arrive is always a mystery me. I enjoy surprises though, so it’s all good!

IMG_0484

“The Gleam Team” is the theme for March! Lots of shimmery, shiny products ahead!

IMG_0485

Sephora mixed it up a little with the illustrations in the March PLAY! BOOK. I love the watercolors they usually do, but these illustrations fit much better with this month’s theme.

IMG_0489

Box Contents:

 • GLAMGLOW – GLOWSTARTER Mega Illuminating Moisturizer
 • Benefit Cosmetics – Watt’s Up! Cream-to-Powder Highlighter
 • Josie Maran – Surreal Skin Argan Finishing Balm
 • Bobbi Brown – Long Wear Cream Shadow Stick in Golden Pink
 • Living Proof – Full Dry Volume Blast
 • Chloé – Fleur de Parfum
 • Drawstring Bag

IMG_0480

GLAMGLOW – GLOWSTARTER Mega Illuminating Moisturizer

In the PLAY! BOOK it says that illuminating moisturizers like this one are being dubbed “glotions.” How funny is that?! It definitely makes me chuckle! 🙂

I was expecting this product to be super moisturizing based on how moisturizing their THIRSTYMUD mask is. Unfortunately, I’m not finding it to be very hydrating.

It smells fantastic though! I can’t put my finger on what exactly the scent reminds me of though! It’s sweet + sugary with a touch of fruit. Yummy!

IMG_0479

Benefit Cosmetics – Watt’s Up! Cream-to-Powder Highlighter

I’m a lover of all things Benefit, so I was pretty excited to find this product in my box!

I don’t do much highlighting in my makeup routine, so I’ll be using this bad boy as an eye shadow and inner eye highlight.

It’s a light champagne color that is perfect for everyday wear!

IMG_0478

Josie Maran – Surreal Skin Argan Finishing Balm

I’m not so sure about this balm. It makes my skin feel nice, but I don’t love the packaging.

The rose gold lid and clear pot are beautiful, but I hate sticking my finger in products like this. When pots are super small, I always end up jabbing my finger in there and getting a ton of product stuck under my nail. This is most likely just a personal problem and not something that everyone struggles with!

I’ll most likely end up giving this product to a friend of mine to enjoy!

IMG_0481

Bobbi Brown – Long Wear Cream Shadow Stick in Golden Pink

I love the convenience of eye shadow sticks! They make application so quick and easy.

This shadow stick is super similar in color to the Laura Mercier shadow stick that I received in my November box. I’m okay with that though, because I love the rosey champagne color! I swatched the two side-by-side and gathered that the Bobbi Brown shadow has a tad more shimmer to it.

IMG_0477

Living Proof – Full Dry Volume Blast

I’m super low-maintenance when it comes to my hair. I always air dry and rarely straighten it these days.

Since I don’t style my hair, this product is kind of lost on me. I did a little test earlier and did see a little volume boost after spraying certain parts of my hair.

My mom does way more styling with her hair than I do, so she’ll probably end up with this product.

I’m a little reluctant to let it go though, because it smells absolutely amazing!

IMG_0482

Chloé – Fleur de Parfum

Those of you that read my reviews each month know that I am not a perfume person. This month is no different.

I spritzed this perfume before writing this post, and I’m now regretting it. The scent is a little much for me! Whoopsie!!

IMG_0483

This month’s bag is very fun! I love the neon-esque font they chose! It works so well with the theme!

IMG_0486

This month’s box was okay for me. It wasn’t the best but wasn’t the worst either. I’ll definitely be using up the Bobbi Brown shadow stick and the Benefit highlighter though.

Box Contents:

 • Kate Spade New York – New York Photo Album
 • Stephanie Johnson – Camera Crossbody Bag
 • Sunnylife, LLC – Eco Lunch Box Watermelon
 • Thrive Causemetics – Brilliant Eye Brightener in Stella
 • Smashmallow – Cinnamon Churro
 • Velvet Eyewear – $25 Gift Card

IMG_0173

Kate Spade New York – New York Photo Album – Retail Value $20

This is the first item I saw peeking out of my box and is, by far, my favorite! I absolutely LOVE Kate Spade!

I’m sure this beauty will be making an appearance on Instagram in the near future! Follow me (@pinkbowstwinkletoes) and never miss a post! 🙂

IMG_0174

My mission for the next week or so is to gather and print lots of photos to fill my new album!

IMG_0179

Stephanie Johnson – Camera Crossbody Bag – Retail Value $45

I love bags, but I’m not so sure that this one is for me! I carry A LOT of nonsense in my purse and don’t like the idea of others being able to see all that!

A lot of stadiums are requiring people to bring clear, see-through bags to sporting events now. I’m wondering if this bag will make the cut even though it’s red? I don’t go to that many sporting events, but I will take this bag to my next one if it meets the regulations!

IMG_0176

Sunnylife, LLC – Eco Lunch Box Watermelon – Retail Value $18

How adorable is this little watermelon?! I received an eco lunchbox from POPSUGAR a while ago and absolutely loved it!

These boxes are perfect for keeping your chips and sandwich from getting crushed when throwing your lunch in a tote bag!

IMG_0177

Thrive Causemetics – Brilliant Eye Brightener in Stella – Retail Value $24

How gorgeous is this turquoise packaging?! I love it!

I also love the champagne-y color of this highlighter. It looks beautiful on my skin tone! I added some in the corners of my eyes this morning, and they brightened right up!

The packaging says you can use this highlighter as an eyeliner and eye shadow as well. I’ll be trying it out as a shadow tomorrow morning. Champagne is one of my go-to colors, so I know it’ll look fantastic!

IMG_0184

Smashmallow – Cinnamon Churro – Retail Value $4

Gourmet marshmallows?! Yes, please!!

The marshmallows smell amazing and taste pretty good too. I’ve eaten four (one serving size for those who care) by themselves and found them to be quite delightful! If I can find some hot chocolate in my pantry, I’m going to add them to that next!

IMG_0178

Velvet Eyewear – $25 Gift Card

I don’t like like it when gift cards are included in my boxes. Very rarely do the websites have products that you can buy with the gift cards alone. Velvet Eyewear has a few pairs of sunglasses for $45-$65 but the majority were $150 and above.

I already have two pairs of nice sunglasses, so I won’t be spending this card.

IMG_0183

The total retail value for this month’s box is $111 not including the gift card. That value isn’t too high, but it’s still great for a $40 box!

My favorite items this month are the Kate Spade photo album and the Sunnylife lunch box!

PLAY! by Sephora Review: February 2017

Hello there!

My PLAY! by Sephora box has arrived! It’s always an exciting day when this box lands on my doorstep!

img_9123

“The Soft Side” is the theme for February.

This box definitely evokes soft + girly feelings.

img_9124

Box Contents:

 • Clinique – Pep-Start Hydroblur Moisturizer
 • NARS – Velvet Lip Glide in Bound
 • Marc Jacobs – Divine Decadence
 • Sephora Collection – Lashcraft Length & Volume Mascara
 • Too Faced – Lip Injection Glossy in Milkshake
 • Origins – GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream
 • Drawstring Bag

img_9126

Clinique – Pep-Start Hydroblur Moisturizer

I’ve been interested in trying out several items from Clinique’s Pep Start line. I’ve tried the eye cream from this line before and like it quite a bit, so I was very pleased to see this moisturizer in my box this month.

The Hydroblur Moisturizer also doubles as a makeup primer. I love a product that does double duty!

I use a lot of Clinique skincare products, so although I’ve only used this cream a few times, I’m not worried about skin irritation after prolonged use.

img_9129

NARS – Velvet Lip Glide in Bound

I love NARS products, so I let out a little squeel when I pulled this out of my bag.

I own several NARS lipsticks but have never tried their liquid lipstick before. After several uses, I know I’ll be using this lipstick in its entirety. I’m also very likely to purchase the full size version in the future!

The formula is creamy and the color is perfect for me! I love it!

img_9130

Marc Jacobs – Divine Decadence

As usual, I’m not a fan of the fragrance sample.

I don’t buy this box for the fragrances though, so that’s okay!

Sephora Collection – Lashcraft Length & Volume Mascara

I don’t typically buy store brand beauty products. However, I’ve been very pleased with every Sephora Collection item I’ve received through my PLAY! box.

After using this mascara, my lashes look great! They’re quite long and rather dark! That’s a win win for me!

Too Faced – Lip Injection Glossy in Milkshake

I love lip products, so I was rather excited when I saw two of them in my box this month!

I’ve tried several lip plumping glosses in the past, and I was not a fan. Unfortunately, this gloss falls into the same category. I don’t like the intense tingles that these glosses generate. It burns a little, and I don’t ever see the results that the tingles are supposed to bring.

Another negative for this gloss is that the color is just not flattering on me. Yikes!

I’m going to see if any of my friends want to plump their pouts! If so, I’ll be gifting them this gloss! 🙂

Origins – GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream

I LOVE receiving eye creams in my subscription boxes. Eye cream is a product that I love to use but hate to buy! Receiving it in a box is the ideal solution to that problem!

I don’t think I’ve ever tried an eye cream from Origins before, so I’m excited for this product. I used it last night and so far, so good!

I LOVE this month’s bag! It goes perfectly with the soft + girly box theme! The dark blush and silky material is so fancy!

This bag is a huge improvement from last month’s!

All in all, I’d say I’m very pleased with this month’s box! I’m going to be taking the NARS liquid lipstick with me everywhere for the foreseeable future!

Tribe Alive – Foldover Clutch – Atitlán Brocade – Retail Value $98

This clutch is absolutely gorgeous! I love the black + cream color palette. So cute. So classy.

I don’t carry clutches often (I’m afraid of setting my purse down and accidentally walking away), so I will be using this bag to hold my planner(s) and accessories when I travel. This clutch is super roomy, so I know I’ll be able to fit all my supplies inside!

Here are photos of both sides of the clutch. Each side features a different design. How fun is that?! I’m not sure which is my absolute favorite, but I’m leaning toward the one on the right!

Battington Lashes – Monroe 3D Silk Lashes – Retail Value $28

I was pretty surprised to see these lashes in my box this month. I’ve subscribed to many different beauty boxes over the years and have never received eyelashes before.

I tried to put on fake eyelashes once in high school for a spirit day and things didn’t go so well. I haven’t tried since then. I have luscious lashes (mostly kidding 😉 ), so even if I were capable of putting these on, I probably wouldn’t bother.

I have a few friends that wear fake lashes, so I’m going to see if any of them would like to give these a try!

Kris Nations Jewelry – Love Script Necklace – Retail Value $48

I received some earring from this brand two February’s ago in my POPSUGAR box, and absolutely loved them!

The packaging (real glass and cork) is divine, and the jewelry styles are adorable too! I’ve already used the jar + cork in an Instagram post, and am wearing this necklace today (Happy Valentine’s Day!!)

img_8614

Chuao Chocolatier – Cinnamon Cereal Smooch Chocolate Bar – Retail Value $6

This is another brand I’ve received before in a POPSUGAR box. The last bar I got was rocky road flavored. Yum!

I love all the fun flavors that Chuao includes in their chocolate bars. Cinnamon Toast Crunch is one of my favorite cereals, so I was elated when I saw it was included in this bar! Unfortunately, I’m not getting much cinnamon flavor. The chocolate is still delicious though!

Juara Skincare – Candlenut Body Creme – Retail Value $35

I’ve been really into trying out different body + hand cremes recently, so I was pumped when I pulled this jar out of my box! The creme is thick and smells really yummy. It has a soft, sweet, and nutty vibe to it. I love it!

I like to put creme on my hands and arms every night before bed. I’ve been using this creme for the last few days and absolutely love it!

Revlon – Super Lustrous Love Is On Lipstick – Retail Value $7.99

Y’all know how much I love lip products, so you can probably guess how excited I was to find this in my box.

I don’t typically wear red lipstick, but this one is gorgeous. I’ll definitely be wearing this the next time I hit the town!

img_8628

The total retail value for the February POPSUGAR Must Have box is $222.99! That is just crazy! I’m not sure I’ve ever received a box with that high of a value before!

PLAY! by Sephora Review: January 2017

Hello everyone!

My PLAY! by Sephora box has arrived, and I’m excited to share it with you!

img_7932

The theme for January is “Beauty, Set, Go.”

A fun, little “fresh start” “girl on-the-go” kind of thing!

img_7933

Box Contents:

 • tarte – FRXXXTION Stick
 • OUAI – Treatment Masque
 • Tory Burch – Love Relentlessly
 • Youth to the People – Kale + Spinach + Hyaluronic Acid Age Prevention Cream
 • Clinique – Almost Lipstick in Black Honey
 • AmorePacific – Color Control Cushion Compact Broad Spectrum SPF 50+
 • Drawstring Bag

tarte – FRXXXTION Stick

I’ve never seen face cleanser in a stick form before. I think the stick form is pretty cool! When cleanser comes in a bottle, I inevitably end up dumping a little on the floor at some point. Since this soap is in stick form, that’ll never happen. How handy!!

I’ve never tried a charcoal cleanser before, so the black color of the soap was new for me. It was rather fun! I actually saw the tip of my nose turning black, so I hopped out of the shower so I could see what my entire face looked like! 🙂

img_7935

OUAI – Treatment Masque

Since receiving the Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair mask several months ago, I’ve fallen in love with hair masks!

I enjoy trying new things (as evidenced by my love of subscription boxes), so I was quite intrigued when I saw this hair mask in my box.

I was rather surprised when my PLAY! BOOK said that one treatment could end up using the entire sample bottle. I don’t like the idea that you may only get one use out of a sample. It seems like a bit of a waste to me. How can you accurately judge whether or not you like a product or whether a product likes you off of one application? Luckily, I only ended up using about half for my first treatment.

My hair feels very soft today, but I think I like my Briogeo mask better. I don’t end up using nearly as much product, and I get the same results.

img_7936

Tory Burch – Love Relentlessly

My nose has been rather stuffed up recently, so I haven’t been able to tell whether or not I like this fragrance! 🙁

However, I do really like the pink and gold packaging!

img_7938

Youth to the People – Kale + Spinach + Hyaluronic Acid Age Prevention Cream

This moisturizer is very light and agrees well with my skin.

I had a problem last week with a moisturizer that was too heavy for me (uh oh!) and am very glad that this one is light. I also like that it’s anti-aging! It’s never too early to start preventing wrinkles!! 🙂

img_7937

Clinique – Almost Lipstick in Black Honey

Clinique is actually the first makeup brand I ever tried, and I used it for many, many years. I still use them for the majority of my skincare.

Throughout the years, I’ve received tons and tons of free samples of Black Honey, but hadn’t ever really given it a try until now.

The lipstick appears to be quite dark but is actually very light once it’s applied. It slightly enhances my natural lip color and is quite pretty. It’s perfect for everyday wear!

img_7934

AmorePacific – Color Control Cushion Compact Broad Spectrum SPF 50+

I’ve been waiting for a foundation/BB/CC cream sample to come in my box! Unfortunately, neither of these colors worked for me. I have very fair skin, and both of these were just a little too dark for me.

That’s okay though. I know how difficult it must be to match the skin tone of each and every subscriber that Sephora has.

I do like that this sample came with two colors though. I’m sure it worked out for many people!

This month’s drawstring bag is plastic on the front and mesh on the back.

The quote is, “Sweat is just another way to glow.”

This bag and quote definitely goes with the theme for the month, but I am not a fan.

That’s okay though. I’ve been subscribing for nine months now, and this is the first bag I have truly disliked. I’m actually glad I don’t like it, because I won’t feel bad when I throw it away! I like all the other month’s bag, so I haven’t thrown a single one away yet!

img_7945

January wasn’t my favorite month of PLAY! by Sephora, but I do like a few of the products.

I’m going to tuck the Clinique lipstick in my purse and finish off the hair mask sometime this week!
