WFH Office Inspiration - Pink Bows & Twinkle Toes

After almost a year of working from my round (ROUND!!) kitchen table, I decided it was time to upgrade my work from home office space. Today, I’m going to share some WFH office inspiration, how I upgraded my small space, and a few of my WFH must-haves!!

WFH Office Inspiration

Like I mentioned above, I’ve been working from home for about a year now, and the entire time I’ve been sitting at my round kitchen table. Round tables are tough because you lose out on a ton of real estate. You can’t set a notebook next to you, a bowl of food, spread out your stuff, or anything.

On weekdays, my table housed my laptop, second screen, planner, pencils, and more! On weekends, I would pack everything up and set it all on a chair in the corner. What a mess!

Working from home has become a reality for many, and if you’re like me, it might be time you created a dedicated workspace in your home!

A dedicated workspace improves your productivity and makes your home feel less cluttered in my opinion. No more work on the kitchen table! What a win!

Before & After

Prior to creating my own WFH office space, this little corner of my apartment housed my tool basket and butterfly house for 10 months of the year and my Christmas tree for the other two.

The corner looks pretty small, but actually fits a 42″ desk and rolling chair really well! It’s cozy but comfortable!

Now that I have a desk here, I’ll need to decide what to do with my Christmas tree next year. We’ll cross that bridge when we get to it though!

All in all, I am SO HAPPY with this little home office reno! I love that I now have a beautiful and productive workspace!

Desk Assembly

I’ve never assembled furniture before. I’ll admit that I got a little sweaty while putting this desk together, but the actual process was not difficult at all.

If things did get dicey, I had a professional looking over my shoulder ready to jump in and help if needed.

JK. Parker sniffed a little and then went to sleep!

WFH Must Haves

A few of my must-haves for this project included a comfy yet functional office chair, a small yet attractive desk, and minimal yet girly decor.

One huge thing for me is that my office space is in the corner of my living room. It’s completely visible to anyone who enters my home. Because of that, I needed everything to be attractive yet super functional.

Office Chair

When picking out an office chair, I had two criteria. It must be adjustable and look nice with the rest of my living room furniture. I ended up finding what I consider to be a pretty perfect chair at my local Home Goods. I can’t link my specific chair for you, but I found quite a few similar ones at Target, which you can find below.

Desk

When it came to desk selection, I was limited to what would fit in my little corner. I measured my space and determined that a 42″ desk would fit nicely. Once I was armed with that information, I looked at Target and World Market to see what they had to offer. I ended up finding my desk at Target and snagged it for 40% off during a President’s Day weekend sale. I couldn’t pass up that deal!

Here are some other small space options:

Decor

Now, let’s get to the decor! My style is very colorful with shabby chic textures. The majority of my desk decor was pulled from other places in my home. Whenever I set up a new space, I like to shop my own home and see if anything I already have on hand will work.

Bunny: I’ve had this wooden bunny figurine since college. For a few years, I only brought her out at Easter time. However, when I moved into my current apartment, I decided to keep her out year-round and change her velvet bow from pink to red at Christmastime.

My bunny is super old, but here’s a similar set of two.

Picture Frame: I’m a sucker for gold floating frames and picked up five or six of these ones recently. I have the octagon one on my desk and the rectangle ones scattered around the rest of my home.

Calendar: My desk calendar is actually a free printable that I created myself! You can snag one for yourself here: Free Printable Calendar, 2021.

Mug: My mug was a limited edition freebie from the Rifle Paper Co. flagship store several years back, but here are several other gorgeous Rifle floral options:

AirPods case: My love affair with Rifle Paper Co. continues. I’d had my eye on this AirPods case for several months before finally receiving it for Christmas.

Pens + Paper

If you’ve been around for awhile, then you probably already know how much I love pens and notebooks. If you’re new, then you’re about to learn! I am constantly buying new writing materials! I just can’t resist the pretty colors!

Miscellaneous

In my opinion, a desk is not complete without at least one tube of Burt’s Bees lip balm. I have to have a tube within my reach at all times!

I also like keeping a few tinted lip balms nearby to add a little color before I hop on Zoom calls. A few of my favorites are from Fresh. You can’t go wrong with their Rosé and Tulip shades.

And there you have it! Some WFH office inspiration and a free printable calendar to boot!

I hope you love my new space as much as I do and that you carve out a little space for yourself if you haven’t already!
