You know what will make this season of life a little more cheerful? A hand embroidered face mask, that’s what!
I recently purchased a pack of solid-colored masks from Gap and decided to jazz one up with a little embroidery! I loved the results so much that I’m actually working on making a second hand embroidered face mask!
If you want to do the same to one (or two or three) of your masks, you can easily do so with a few supplies and a couple of minutes!

Supplies:
- Embroidery floss
- Embroidery hoop
- Needle
- Scissors
- Water-soluble marking pen
Hand Embroidered Face Mask
From the start, I knew I wanted to embroider at least one of the flowers from one of my favorite books, Botanical Line Drawing.

After deciding to use my all-time favorite flower, which makes monthly appearances on Instagram, I took my water-soluble marker and began drawing my chosen design on my mask. I chose a large flower along with a few dots for one side and two leaves and more dots for the other.

Then, I threaded my needle and got right to it! I used a backstitch for the flowers and leaves and french knots for the little dots!

My design is simple, but cheery and has brought me so much joy! I will admit that I haven’t worn this mask as many times as I would like, because I’m worried about getting it dirty and messing it up! I know that’s ridiculous, so this is me telling you that I’m going to start wearing my hand embroidered face mask all the time going forward!
