Stamped Greeting Cards: Easy DIY

Hello Crafters!

Those of you that follow me on Instagram (if you’re not already, follow me @pinkbowstwinkletoes) have seen several posts in the last few weeks featuring some homemade greeting cards.

I love how all of my greeting cards have turned out, so I figured I’d write up a little tutorial for you all!

When I say making these cards is super easy, I mean super duper easy peasy!  You can make several cards in 10 minutes or less!

Supplies:

  • Cardstock (I used white, but you can use a color if you prefer)
  • Paper trimmer or scissors
  • Ink pads
  • Stamps
  • Markers (I like Staedtler Dual Tips)
  • Ruler (optional)
  • Pencil (optional)

Step 1:

Take a sheet of cardstock and cut it in half lengthwise creating two strips.

Step 2:

To make a folding card, fold each strip in half.

To make flat cards, cut each strip in half.

I’ll be making both types of cards in this tutorial!

Here are the stamps I’ll be using for my cards.

I bought these at Michaels several years ago. The season was changing, so everything in their spring collection was one sale.  I went a little crazy (who doesn’t love clearance?!) and bought every stamp set I could find from this collection.  I have about eight packs! 🙂

I love the watercolor ink look, so I’m using two pink inks and an orange one for my first owl.

Step 3:

Take your ink pads and apply each color randomly to your stamp.

If you’re using a light ink and several dark ones (like me!), I suggest using the light ink first and then applying the dark inks.  Going in that order prevents you from ruining your light colors with dark ones.

Step 4:

Stamp it!

I chose to use this owl on a folding card, so I stamped my image on the right side of the opened card.  I find folded cards easier to stamp when they are opened up.

Step 5:

Add your message!

I like to take a ruler and draw a pencil line before I go in and add my copy.  If I don’t add a line, I always end up writing on a slant!

Step 6:

Add a fun message on the inside of your card!

On the inside of my card, I’m going to write something along the lines of “That’s owl speak for…”

I’m going to repeat steps 1-6 and make a flat floral card now.

I mixed orange and coral red ink for this one.

I love how these two inks look when mixed together!

I added “Yay” to this card!  I think it’ll be very cute for celebrations and such!

I also decided to make a blue and green owl!

This time, I stamped the owl on a flat card!

There are so many fun “owl” sayings out there, that I’m bound to use another one when I send out this card! 🙂

I hope you all enjoyed this super duper easy peasy tutorial!

If I weren’t taking photos while making these cards, they would’ve taken me less than ten minutes to make!

Happy Crafting!

Deepa Gurnani – Katie Crystal Headband – Retail Value $56

I absolutely LOVE this headband!  I put it on right away!

I’ve been wanting a fancy headband like this for a long time now, but I’ve never found one that I thought was perfect or reasonably priced.  This one certainly isn’t reasonable priced, but it is perfect!

It has nice weight to it and doesn’t slip out of my hair. Fantastic!

Tarte Cosmetics – Beauty & the Box Eye Shadow – Retail Value $22

I’m a huge Tarte fan, so I always love to see it in my boxes!

These shadows are pretty and neutral.  They’re perfect for every day!

Some people got a different color variation of this same palette.  I think I would’ve preferred the other option better (it had a shimmer shadow in it), but this one is still great!  I’ll definitely use it!

West Emory – Bingo Set – Retail Value $20

I love that they included a game in this month’s box!  So fun!

I’m not going to open mine yet, because I think it’ll make a great gift someday!

Capri Blue – Mercury Jewel Box in Rain – Retail Value $18.95

Unfortunately, my candle came broken.  I’ve spoken to POPSUGAR and a replacement will be mailed to me in the next few weeks.  The candle is on back order, so it’s going to take a little while to get to me. 🙁

This candle smells great, and from what I can tell, the jar is beautiful and will make a great little knick knack holder when I’m done burning the candle.

Hopefully, the candle will get to me sooner than POPSUGAR’s estimate!

Gramr Gratitude Co. – Exclusive Thanksgiving Postcard Pack – Retail Value $ 10

These postcards are so fun and pretty!  I absolutely love them!

Since they’re thanksgiving themed and thanksgiving is in less than a week, I don’t think I’ll be getting any use out of them this year.  Next year I will though!

Terrapin Ridge Farms – Pecan Honey Mustard – Retail Value $6

I love honey mustard, and this kind looks really nice!

I’ll have to cook some chicken, so I can give it a try soon!

The total retail value for the November box is $132.95!  So awesome!

Once I get the new candle, I will be super satisfied with this month’s contents!
