POPSUGAR Must Have Review: November 2016

Hello everyone!

My POPSUGAR Must Have box has arrived, and I’m super excited about it!

I try my best to avoid all the spoilers for POPSUGAR each month! I really want my box to be a complete surprise, so I don’t follow POPSUGAR Must Have on social media.  I also don’t look at subscription boxes on Instagram until after mine has arrived.  Unfortunately, I did accidentally stumble upon a spoiler for this box about a week before it arrived! 🙁

I LOVED the spoiler that I saw, so I was rather impatient after that for my box to finally arrive!  Although I did end up enjoying the spoiler, I’m still going to try my best to avoid all the spoilers for the December box!

I want to apologize really quickly for the lighting in all these photos.  I took all the photos at the same time, but the sun seems to have been working against me! 🙁

Kendra Scott – Elaina Rose Gold Bracelet in White Pearl – Retail Value $50

I love Love LOVE Kendra Scott jewelry!  I have quite the collection and wear something KS almost every day! This will be my fourth toggle style bracelet of hers.  Yes, I really do have a large collection.  My friends think I’m a tad crazy! 🙂

This was the spoiler I accidentally stumbled upon!  As you can imagine, I was super duper excited when I saw it on Instagram and even more excited when I got my box and had it in my hands!

I’ve been waiting for POPSUGAR to feature another Kendra Scott product for years!  I’m so happy that it finally happened!!

Pehr – Chambray Runner Wine – Retail Value $44

I love the design of this table runner!  The colors and pattern are simple and quite attractive.

I think it would be perfect for a Thanksgiving tablescape!

img_4814

I love that there is wine colored fringe on the ends of the runner!  That adds a nice, little touch to it!

img_4796

Stowaway Cosmetics – Dawn to Dusk Palette – Retail Value $25

Eye shadow palettes are always fun in subscription boxes!  I use the Pixi palette from the March box several times a week!

This Stowaway palette has some fantastic, versatile shadows in it that I know I’ll get a lot of use out of. The four shadows on the left are my favorites! I’m not sure I’ll get use out of the navy shadow, but I know I will use all the others!

img_4837

AJ Goods – Nest Wire Basket – Retail Value $35

This bowl would go really well with the table runner above.  Throw some fruit in there and you’ve got a pretty center piece!

This bowl would also be excellent for holding some of my extensive washi tape collection! 🙂

img_4789

Meri Meri – Star Party Picks – Retail Value $8

These party picks would have been PERFECT for my friend’s bachelorette party last week!  If only my box had arrived sooner! Oh well!

I think I’ll save these for a birthday party or perhaps New Year’s Eve!

img_4786

Oogie’s Snacks – Oogie’s Gourmet Toffee Butter Popcorn – Retail Value $2.99

Just like usual, this month’s snack is delicious!

How fun would it be to pick out the snack for each month’s POPSUGAR box?! I would have a ton of fun doing that job! 🙂

img_4850

The total retail value of this month’s box is $164.99.  That’s fantastic!

Honestly, if all this box had it in was the bracelet, it still would’ve totally been worth it to me! That being said, I am still really excited about all the other products! After I get done writing this post, I’m going to eat some more of that yummy popcorn!

Do you subscribe to POPSUGAR Must Have?!

What do you think of the November box?

DIY: Happy Birthday Banner

Hi everyone!

I have a super easy, birthday project to share with you today!

It’s my roommate’s birthday this week, so I made a birthday banner to hang in our apartment to celebrate!

IMG_5404Supplies:

  • 4.5 by 6.5 Cardstock Scrapbooking Paper
  • Ribbon
  • Acrylic Paint (I recommend metallic!)
  • Paintbrush
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Scotch Tape
  • Hole Punch
  • Something Angled (I’m using a name tag)

Start the project by deciding what phrase you want to spell out with your banner.  I chose “Happy Birthday!”

Once you’ve decided on a phrase, count out the appropriate number of cardstock pages.

IMG_5405Use your angled object to create the shape of each banner piece.

I’m using a name tag I was given several years ago on my Bid Day.

Lay down your angled piece and trace with a pencil.

IMG_5408Cut along the pencil lines.

Go ahead and cut all of the banner pieces now.

IMG_5412Once you’ve cut the pieces, it’s time to hole punch them and then paint the letters.

I painted my letters in a basic font. I didn’t want anything too complicated.  A low maintenance font makes the project much easier to complete!

If you’re not comfortable free handing the letters with your paintbrush, draw them lightly with pencil first and then paint over the lines.

IMG_5414My paper pack came with many coordinating paper options, so I picked my favorites and alternated them for this project.

IMG_5421Now it’s time to string the letters together.

Thread the ribbon in and out of each punched hole. I like to fold the end of the ribbon in half, so it fits nicely through the holes without giving me much trouble!

I would keep your ribbon on the spool while threading the letters.  That way you won’t encounter the problem of too little or too much ribbon on each end.

IMG_5426To make sure that each banner piece stays in its place, I like to add a little bit of Scotch Tape on the backside of each piece.

Once each banner piece is secured, the banner is ready to hang!

IMG_5444I apologize for the weird lighting.  I took this picture three different times throughout the day, and this is the best I could get!

I promise the banner looks fantastic in person though!

I’ve made a few of these over the years for different occasions.  They’re great for any celebration you may have!

I hope you enjoyed this quick and easy tutorial!

DIY Confetti – Easy and Fun!

Hi everyone!

I have a fun and SUPER easy craft for you today!

I’ve been wanting something to add a little pizazz to my Instagram photos recently, so I decided to invest in some confetti.  I knew I wouldn’t be able to buy exactly what I wanted, so I decided to make my own!  Making my own definitely didn’t save me money, but that’s okay!  I got exactly what I wanted!

IMG_4007Supplies:

  • Paper punches
  • Cardstock
  • Scissors

IMG_4016Simply use the punches to cut out lots and lots and lots of your desired confetti shapes!

I found it the easiest to start with a whole sheet of cardstock, punch out a complete row, and then cut that strip away.  In the end, you’ll end up with a bunch of punched out strips like the ones above!  You could also cut the strips and then punch.  Whatever floats your boat!

IMG_4051I went to town and punched out lots of different shapes!

I bought my punches during JoAnn’s most recent scrap booking sale, so they we’re out of a few punches that I wanted. 🙁

I still managed to get my hands on a few fun ones!  As you can see, I got a medium heart, a dove, and a small circle.  I also got a small heart.  I just haven’t made any confetti with it yet.

IMG_4036Look how cute! Doesn’t it just jazz up the picture?! 🙂

Happy Crafting!
