I’m back and ready to share my September Julep Maven box with you!

If you’re not a Maven and would like to be, click here!!

DSCN2967I love finding these little purple boxes in my mailbox!

DSCN2970Here’s my September box!! It came with two little hard candies!

DSCN2976

September’s theme is “Art Walk.”

This month featured a lot of pretty, muted nail colors.  Perfect for the fall!!

DSCN2986Nail Polish:

Quinn – Classic with a Twist – Charcoal Purple Satin

I’d say this polish is more navy and less purple.  Either way, it is absolutely perfect!! I used it last week and loved it!

Lupita – Classic with a Twist – Ripe Rhubarb Crème

This is the perfect pinky red! My nails are currently painted this color, and they are gorgeous (if I do say so myself!)

DSCN2990Plush Pout Lip Crayon – Cardinal Red Crème

I was daring this month and chose the red color!  I’m typically a pink girl, but I wanted a change!

DSCN2997The red is really nice!  I don’t know how often I’ll use it, but I’m glad to have it!

The moisture core is also a fantastic!

DSCN2979Once again, Julep has gifted us with a coupon!!  Just like the previous months, this code is good for two uses!

What did you get in your September box? Do you love it too?

Julep Maven Review & Coupon – August 2014

Hi everyone!

I recently got my Julep Maven box in the mail, and I can’t wait to share it with you!

A little background on a Julep Maven subscription:

  • Monthly box full of nail and beauty products
  • Completely customizable
  • Free Shipping and 20% off everything online
  • $24.99 a month or $19.99 with a 3-month subscription

Do you want to be a Julep Maven?! Click here!!

DSCN2751I love the bright purple color of the Julep boxes!! They are always so much fun to find in my mailbox!

DSCN2755I don’t usually make a big deal about the tissue paper inside of the boxes, but this month’s was so cute!!! I had to take a picture for you!

DSCN2757I got my August box for FREE, because I had so many Jules from referrals.

August box contents:

  • Two nail polishes
  • Gel eyeliner
  • Smartphone screen cleaner
  • Coupon

DSCN2763

August features “The Wanderlust Collection.”

I’m not super impressed with this month’s color selection.  The majority of the polishes are not summer shades.  I live in Florida, so I’m still in the summer mood!

DSCN2783Polishes

  • Avni – Classic with a Twist – African violet shimmer
  • Katie – Classic with a Twist – Orchid iridescent chrome

I’m not a huge purple person, but I like both of these colors.

I’m a little disappointed that I got two purple polishes this month.  They are two different shades of purple, but both purple nonetheless.

Also, Katie looks very similar to some other purple polishes I have received from Julep in the past.

DSCN2790This month’s beauty product is a Gel Eye Glider.  There were four colors to choose from, and I chose Rich Brown.

I haven’t tried it on my eyes yet, but it wrote very smoothly on my hand!

DSCN2774This month’s little extra is a screen cleaner that sticks to your phone.

I’m never going to stick this to my phone, but I did use it to clean my laptop screen.  It seemed to work pretty well!

DSCN2772The back of the card says that you can get free Jules if you download the Julep app!

I already had the Julep app, so I don’t think I qualified. I tried it anyway though!

DSCN2767

Here is the August quote and a coupon!

Julep has been sending out of lot of coupons lately!!  This one is good for two uses!

I need some more Ta Da! Quick Dry Drops, so I may take advantage of the coupon this month!

If you haven’t tried the Ta Da! drops, you really should! They are amazing!!

What did you get in your Maven box this month?!

Julep Maven Review & Coupon – July 2014

Hi everybody!!

It took a bit longer than usual, but I FINALLY received my July box from Julep Maven!

Julep warned us that this month’s box would take a little longer than normal.  I just never guessed that it would take as long as it did!! DSCN2631Here’s a little background for those of you that aren’t familiar with Julep Maven:

Julep Maven is a nail and beauty subscription box.  For $24.99 a month, Mavens receive a selection of nail polishes and other beauty products.

The price recently went up from $19.99 to $24.99 to accommodate those Mavens who wished to completely customize their boxes.

I like what Julep picks for me, so I chose not to upgrade to the customization option!

I believe all new subscriptions start at $24.99 though!

If you’d like to be a Maven click here to sign up! DSCN2640Here’s my Classic with a Twist box!

It came with two Tootsie Rolls, which I am SUPER excited about!! DSCN2669July featured The Poolside Collection.

I’m not in love with all the polishes from this month’s collection.  I think some of them are just a tad too dark for summer!!  I am, however, in love with the two polishes I received! DSCN2675The July quote is very fitting!

I love the yellow and blue color scheme that Julep used this month! So bright and fun!! DSCN2664This month’s beauty product is Bare Body Milk.

I’m quite impressed with the size of the Body Milk! It’s 6.8 ounces, which is a pretty decent size!

I really like the scent of this lotion! I’m not sure what it smells like, but it smells pretty good!

I used some on my hands the other day, and it worked very well! DSCN2655Nail Polish

  • Kelsey – Classic with a Twist – Powder peach crème
  • Vicki – Classic with a Twist – Pink flamingo crème

I LOVE both my polishes this month!! They are so pretty and perfect for summer!

I’m currently wearing Vicki on my fingernails!  It’s a tad bit brighter than I expected, but still very pretty!

I think that Kelsey will look perfect as little polka dots on top of Vicki! (That’s what I’m trying next!) DSCN2678As an added bonus for the July box, Julep sent along a coupon!!

It says in the fine print that this coupon is good for two uses!! That’s double the fun!

What did you get in your July Maven box?! Comment below to let me know! Bow signature pink

Image

I got this box for FREE by using some of the Jules I’ve earned through referrals!! Super exciting, right?!

Let’s get to the box!

ImageHere she is!!

Contents:

  • Two Breathable nail colors
  • Oxygen Smoothing Base Coat
  • Three Pixie Sticks
  • Coupon
  • Inspirational Quote

ImageHere’s this month’s inspirational quote.  I think it fits pretty well with the “Three Wishes” theme.

ImagePolishes

  • Ariana – Classic With a Twist – Enchanted berry iridescent chrome
  • Bergen – Classic With a Twist – Hazy blue-grey shimmer

I really like the colors that came in this month’s box, but I probably won’t be wearing them until the fall.  I think these colors are just a little too dark for the summertime.

Oxygen Smoothing Base Coat

I’m excited to try the base coat!  I haven’t used base coat in years, and it’s probably time I start using it again!

Along with a base coat, one of the Style Profile (Modern Beauty?) came with a top coat.  I REALLY wanted to try that, but I didn’t want to pay to add it on to my FREE box!  Hopefully, I’ll get the top coat in another box someday! I might just breakdown and buy it though!!

ImageThis is the second month in a row that Julep has included a coupon in the box!

I LOVE coupons, so I’m pretty excited about this!

This coupon doesn’t expire until July 31, 2014!  That gives me plenty of time to use it!

In the fine print, it says that the coupon can be used twice per customer! What a deal!!!

What did you get in your June Maven box? Did you get a different coupon code?

Let me know!

Hi everyone!!

As promised, here is the review for my Add-Ons from my May Julep Maven box!

I added on one nail polish and the Plié Wand Creativity Kit.

ImagePolish

Laree – Bombshell – Golden pink taffeta shimmer

I would classify this polish as a pinky-coral shimmer.  I’m really excited to try this one!  It’s going to be perfect for summer!!

ImagePlié Wand Creativity Kit

The Creativity Kit came with two caps:

  • Dotting Tool
  • Striping Brush

I’m really excited to try out both of these tools!

I absolutely LOVE polka dots, so I can’t wait to accent my nails with some of those!

I’ll be sure to post my results (as long as they aren’t horrendous!)

Julep Maven Review – May 2014

Hi guys!!

I just got my Julep Maven box for May, and I’m super excited about it!!

What exactly is Julep Maven?!

It is a monthly subscription service that provides you with nail polish and various beauty products!  It’s only $19.99 a month and comes with free shipping! You can get your first box for free by following this link! There are tons of perks to being a Julep Maven!  Check out all the perks here!

I’ve been a Maven for several months now and I absolutely LOVE it!!

Let’s get to my box!

ImageThis month’s box was a little bigger than usual to accommodate the products inside.

ImageThe first thing I saw when I opened my box was a thank you note from Jane, the Julep founder.

Several months ago, Mavens were asked to help crowdfund Julep’s Plié Wand, so Jane sent along a little note and a special polish to thank the Mavens that participated!

ImageHere’s a close-up of the thank you card.

Now let’s get to the good stuff!!

Image

As usual, I got the Classic with a Twist box!

My box came with:

  • Three polishes (Two Classic with a Twist and a bonus It Girl)
  • Plié Wand
  • Plié Wand Precision Brush
  • An extra Plié Wand compatible polish cap
  • Promo code for 2 for 1 polish

ImageThis month’s theme is Fresh Twist!  All of the polish colors are refreshing and fun!

DSCN1881Polishes

Maddy – Classic with a Twist – Raspberry sorbet shimmer

Ramona – Classic with a Twist – Muted lavender rose crème

Both of these polishes are Breathable nail colors.

Here’s a description of what Breathable polish is:

Screen Shot 2014-04-29 at 4.20.59 PMHere’s my bonus (thank you) polish!

DSCN1886

Yumi – It Girl – Pink, silver, and holographic glitter.

I’m really into glitter polishes right now, so this polish is perfect!

DSCN1875Here is the much anticipated Plié Wand!

I’m very excited about this product!  I’m not terrible at painting my own nails, but every little bit helps!

I tried out the wand last night, and it was okay.  It was a lot easier to hold in my right hand (probably because I’m right handed huh?) than my left.  I’m sure it will get much easier after I use it a few times!

DSCN1908The last item in my box was this precision tip and extra polish cap, as well as some assembly instructions.

I also purchased two add-ons this month.  I got an email saying that those were going to ship separately.  I’ll post a review of those products as soon as I get them in the mail!

All in all, I’m very pleased with this month’s box!

Did you get the May Maven box? What do you think of the Plié Wand?

Julep Maven Review – April 2014

Hi everyone!!

I got my April Julep Maven box today, and I’m super excited about it!

ImageI got my April box for FREE!!! I used some of the Jules I’ve been saving up!

Here’s my box!

ImageThis month, Julep debuted The Vivid Collection.  This collection is full of bright and vivid (DUH!) colors!

ImageBecause I used Jules to pay for my April box, I decided not to add any other colors on. I LOVE all the colors in this collection though!

I got my usual Classic with a Twist, which featured two polishes and a blush.  My box also came with two little hard candies and a coupon.

ImageI wasn’t expecting a coupon in this box, so I am SUPER EXCITED!!!! I absolutely LOVE coupons, so I can’t wait to use this one!

I really like the Birthstone Collection, so I think I’m going to use my coupon on a few of those polishes.  I especially like Aretha and Rosa.

ImagePolishes:

  • Mariska – Classic with a Twist – Juicy tangerine shimmer
  • Caitlin – Classic with a Twist – Shocking hibiscus with gold shimmer

Both of these colors will be great for my little toesies in the summertime!

ImageBlush – Peach Bellini

I’ve recently decided to experiment more with make-up so this blush is perfect!  I’ve never worn blush before, but I am excited to give it a try.

I am very pleased with my April Maven box!  The colors are perfect for spring and summer, and I’m sure I will get lots of use out of them both!

Would you like to be a Julep Maven like me?! Follow this link to sign up and get your first box for FREE! (You only have to pay for shipping!)

I’m going to go try out my new polishes now!

Julep Maven – Lucky Mystery Box

Hi everyone!!

I recently received my Julep Maven Lucky Mystery Box.

Julep offers mystery boxes several times a year, that feature various Julep polishes and products.

This St. Patrick’s Day, they offered the Lucky Mystery Box.  The boxes were $24.99 and came with over $100 worth of products!

There were four boxes to choose from, three of them featured a different green specialty polish and one was 100% mystery.

Image

I love surprises, so I chose the 100% mystery box!

ImageMy mystery box came with eight polishes! WOW!!

ImagePolishes from left to right:

  • Ursula – Bombshell – Blackest black crème crackle
  • Missy – It girl – Titanium metallic
  • Reece – It girl – Deep purple holographic shimmer
  • Audrey – Classic with a twist – Light pink microglitter
  • Jodie – Classic with a twist – Rosy mauve with gold shimmer
  • Diane – It girl – Dark forest green crème
  • Shenae – It girl – Pastel mint green opalescent shimmer
  • Olivia – Classic with a twist – Dark chocolate truffle crème

I love surprises so much that I couldn’t resist the Major Mystery Add-On!

My add-on came with four additional polishes, a mini Freedom Polymer Top Coat, and forget-me-not seeds.

ImagePolishes in the add-on:

  • Nicolette – Bombshell – Opaque French white
  • Alaina – Classic with a twist – Driftwood taupe crème
  • Ingrid – Boho glam – Burnt orange crème
  • Adele – Bombshell – Golden reflective top coat

ImageI’m pretty happy with the contents of my mystery box.  Several of the colors are pretty dark and won’t get used until the fall, but I’m still glad I received them.

Although I’m pleased with my mystery box, I do wish I’d have gotten some products besides just nail polish.  I like the variety of my monthly boxes and the Cupid Mystery Box I bought in February.

I’ve bought the last two mystery boxes that Julep has offered, so I’m going to try to resist buying the next one! When I get their email though, I don’t know if I’ll be able to control myself!

I’m planning on experimenting with Shanae and Tania (from my March box) tonight!  I’ll let you know how it goes!

Julep Maven Review – March 2014

Hi everyone!

As some of you may know, I just got back from Spring Break! When I got back to my apartment there was an exciting surprise waiting for me, my March Maven box!!!

Image

Julep Maven is a subscription box service that delivers nail polish, make-up, and other goodies to your door every month! Exciting right?!

If you’d like to be a Maven like me, follow this link to take a style quiz and sign up for a subscription! Your first box is FREE!! You just have to pay for shipping! (It’s only $3.99! What a deal!!)

Monthly boxes cost $19.99 with the opportunity to add on additional products, which are being featured that month, at a reduced cost.  Each box comes with over $40 worth of products inside!

There are many perks of being a Julep Maven!

Perks include:

  • Discounts on everything
  • Free shipping
  • A reward system that leads to free boxes and other exciting items
  • And much more!

Now on to my review!

This March, Julep focused on spring colors with The Riviera Collection.

After seeing the March preview, I was pretty excited for this box!  As usual, I got the Classic with a Twist.  I limited myself this month and only added on one item!

Image

My March box included:

  • Lip Gloss in Fearless
  • Gilliam Candy Company Stick Candy in Cotton Candy
  • Three Nail Polishes: Myriam, Soraphine, and Tania

Lip Gloss

Fearless – Sheer silvery pink shimmer

This month I chose to change the gloss color that came with my Classic with a Twist box.  I can’t remember what color the box was supposed to come with, but I changed it to Fearless because I thought it was prettier and more fun than the original shade I was offered.

I tried the lip gloss on last night, and I think I’m going to like it!  The lighting is terrible in my bathroom (yikes!), so I can’t tell how pigmented the gloss is.  I will say this though, I ate some Jello after applying the gloss (strawberry kiwi, YUM!!), and the gloss was very pink on my spoon!

Gilliam Candy Company Stick Candy

This month’s box came with a fun little candy stick! The stick is cotton candy flavored, so I’m not quite sure if I’ll enjoy it!  I’ll certainly try it though!  If I don’t like it, I’ll probably give it to my best friend, Kylie. (You met her in my post about Savannah)

Nail Polish

Image

From left to right, we have Myriam, Tania, and Soraphine.  Myriam and Soraphine came in my box this month.  I chose Tania as one of my add-ons.

Myriam (Classic with a Twist) – Casino red crème

Tania (Bombshell) – Multidimensional mermaid teal glitter

Soraphine (Classic with a Twist) – Classic sheer white crème

My toes are currently painted with Myriam.  I love the red color!  It’s very bright and perfect for Spring!

Several weeks ago, Julep pinned a really pretty nail idea on Pinterest that involved Tania and Soraphine.  I tried to recreate that look on my fingernails last night.  It was a massive failure!! I couldn’t find the original picture, so I was working from memory and it didn’t work out as well as I was hoping it would!  Since then, I have found the picture and will try to paint them again tonight!  If I have any success, I will be sure to post about it!

Overall, I am very pleased with the March box!  I can’t wait to see what comes out next month!

In the meantime, I’m trying to resist buying The Lucky Mystery Box that Julep is currently offering! The temptation is strong, and I don’t know if I’ll be able to resist!  The good news is, I have lots of Jules (reward points), so my April box will be free!

I’m going to go paint my finger nails now! Let’s hope the results are better this time than last time!!

Julep Maven, Cupid’s Mystery Box – Venus, Mani Lover

Hi all!!

I recently received my Cupid’s Mystery Box from Julep Maven!! I picked the Venus, Mani Lover box, and I’m very pleased with what I received!

Before I review the box, I’d like to give a little background on Julep Maven.  Julep is a beauty brand that focuses primarily on nail polish. A little while ago, they began a subscription box service.  A Julep Maven subscription costs $19.99 a month and comes with many great features.

Features include:

  • Free shipping
  • 20% off on all orders (not including your monthly box)
  • Five style profiles to choose from
  • The ability to send your box to a friend
  • The ability to skip a month if you don’t like what they are featuring
  • Reward points that transfer to free boxes and other items (I have quite a few reward points!!!)
  • And much, much more!

If you would like to subscribe, you can do so HERE. Your first box is FREE; you only have to pay for shipping (it’s only $3.99!)

Now let’s get to the review!

Cupid’s Mystery Box is a little different than the regular February Maven box.  Cupid’s Mystery box was more expensive ($24.99) but it came with more products than the regular monthly box! My mystery box came with $75 worth of product compared to the typical box that comes with $40 worth of product.

There were three different boxes to choose from: Venus – Mani Lover,  Aphrodite- Pedi Lover, and  Lindy- Makeup Lover. Each box featured a different pink polish.  I actually liked the polishes shown for the other two boxes way more than the polish that my box featured. I decided to get the Mani Lover box, because I figured I’d get more use out of manicure products than I would pedicure or makeup products.

Now onto the review!!

Image

Here is my box! And my polka dot bed spread!!

Opening time!!

Image

Contents include:

  • Mighty Nail & Cuticle Serum
  • Rock Star Hand Crème
  • Freedom Polymer Top Coat
  • Nail file
  • Four Nail Polishes: Bette, Venus, America, and Madison

Mighty Nail & Cuticle Serum (2.5 mL)

I received the serum originally in my intro box, so I’m not too thrilled to get it again.  I’ve used the serum a few times, but I haven’t seen much of a difference.  That may just be me though.  I don’t really pay attention to my cuticles, so I don’t care too much about treatments for them.  This may be a fantastic product but to me it’s pretty much useless.

Rock Star Hand Crème (1 oz)

I’ve used the crème once so far.  Well, technically, my friend used it.  We were trying to figure out how to open it when some squeezed out onto her hands. The cap doesn’t come off when you twist it; a tiny little hole opens up for the lotion to come out of.  I liked the way it smelled, and I’m pretty sure my friend liked how if felt on her hands.  One complaint I have is the weird way it opened! Luckily we weren’t squeezing the tube too hard, or it would have made a huge mess!

Freedom Polymer Top Coat (8 mL)

I am super duper excited about this product!  I’ve been wanting it for a while and was very pleased when it showed up in my mystery box!  I was planning on buying it if I didn’t receive it in this box.  I haven’t used it yet, but I will as soon as I get a chance! The instructions say to cure your nails under a 60-watt bulb.  I’m wondering if it works the same under compact fluorescent bulbs?  Those are the only light bulbs I have, so I hope it works!

Polishes!!!

Image

From left to right we have

Bette: Electric neon purple crème

Venus: Pink quartz holographic chunky glitter

America: Red, silver, and blue glitter

Madison: Electric neon coral crème (Julep claims Madison is a neon pink polish, but I’ve used it and it’s definitely coral.)

I don’t have any pictures of my nails with these polishes on them, but I do have one recommendation.  Paint your nails with Bette and then paint Venus over top on one of your nails! It’s a great look and lots of fun!  I had mine painted like this earlier in the week, and I got quite a few compliments!

I loved all the polishes that came in my mystery box! I’m also quite pleased with the other products I received!

The preview window for the March box closed the other day, so I should be receiving that one soon!  I’ll be sure to post a review shortly after receiving it!
