DIY Hand Embroidery Motif – Kate Spade Quote

Hi everyone!

I love Kate Spade and hand embroidery, so I decided to combine the two in this next project! Supplies:

• Fabric (I got mine at Hobby Lobby)
• Embroidery hoop
• Embroidery floss
• Pencil
• Needle
• Sharpie

DMC Floss Colors:

• 823 – Navy Blue
• E3821 – Metallic Gold

Type up and print out the quote.

I used a font called “Things People Do For Love!” You can download it too or use another font you like! Trace the quote onto your fabric. We’re going to start with the navy thread and Back Stitch the words. The quote looks so cute!

If you’re satisfied, you can stop now. If you’d like to add a little more pizzazz and tie in the gold dots, keep reading! Separate the gold thread into individual strands.

Take one of the strands and whip it around the navy Back Stitch. The gold thread only pierces the fabric at the beginning and end of each letter.  You just weave it over and under each stitch. Does that make sense? Sooooooo cute! I can’t tell you how much I love this (and cake!) 🙂
