DIY Hand Embroidery Motif – Floral Teapot

Advertisements

Hi everyone!

I have a pretty, shabby chic embroidery tutorial to share with you!

I actually made this, and another project I’ll be posting about later, for my Mom for Mother’s Day. Supplies:

DMC Floss Colors:

I chose metallic silver thread, because I wanted to bring out the silver in my fabric.

Design courtesy of Doodle Stitching

This is the teapot motif we will be using. Print out the motif and trace it with your Sharpie. Trace the teapot onto your fabric. Use the light pink thread and Stem/Outline Stitch the body of the teapot. Now, stitch the lid, but leave a hole where the knob at the top of the pot will go. Continue on with the light pink thread and Stem Stitch. Finish up the spout and handle. Now, we’re going to Back Stitch the knob.

I’ve never used DMC metallic floss before, and it was SUPER hard to thread!  It took me forever! Continue with the silver, and Back Stitch the center of the flower. Use dark green thread and the Stem Stitch for stem. Use light green thread and the Back Stitch for the leaves. Finish up the leaves. Use the medium pink thread and Lazy Daisies for the flower petals.

These petals are the same width at the top and the bottom, so make sure you keep the petal open and not connected at the bottom. Once the petals are done, our teapot is complete! I absolutely LOVE the way this teapot turned out!

It’s so shabby chic!

Happy Crafting!
