Happy Halloween!

I wanted to test the October products for a little while longer this month, so I pushed back my review until the last possible moment!

“Complexion Companions” is the theme for the October box! All of this month’s products (aside from the fragrance sample) are complexion-related.

This month’s PLAY!BOOK features an adorable “get ready with me” series full of tips and tricks to prepare your face for the day.

Becca – First Light Filter Face Primer

You know me well enough by now to know how much I love trying new primers!

This Becca primer is the prettiest shade of lilac and is very thin and lightweight. The primer is so light that I actually think the bottle feels half empty.

There’s nothing that excites me about this primer (aside from the color!) I don’t love it enough to by the full size, but I will be finishing up this little tube.

Make Up For Ever – Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation in R230

I can’t tell you how excited I was when I pulled this foundation sample out of my PLAY! bag. If you watched my IG Story a few weeks ago, you can attest that I was very pleased!

One of the two foundations that I currently switch off between each day is actually Make Up For Ever Ultra HD. I’ve been using it for several years now and absolutely love the formula and the coverage!

Unfortunately, the shade I received in this month’s box doesn’t work for me. However, my PLAY!BOOK says that I can go into a Sephora store with my PLAY!PASS and get a sample that’s just right for me! (I wear shade Y235.) That is fantastic news!

Make Up For Ever – Ultra HD Skin Booster

As I mentioned at the beginning of this post, I put off writing this review for a week or so because I wanted to really get an in-depth feel for a few of the products. This skin booster was one of the products that I needed a little more time with.

My PLAY!BOOK says that this product is “a skin-perfecting serum that plumps, smooths, and hydrates your skin for flawless makeup application.”

I’ve used the skin booster several times and haven’t noticed any difference in my makeup application. I think this might be one of those products that just doesn’t work for me.

Laura Mercier – Translucent Powder

A few months back, I went on a mission to find my new, favorite setting powder. I used the Urban Decay loose powder for years and LOVED it. Over the last few years, it’s become increasingly difficult to find. Because of that, I decided to abandon ship and find a powder that worked just as well but was easier to come by.

While on that mission, I tried the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder.  I thought it was going to be my new favorite, but alas, I was wrong. This powder is a little chunkier and perhaps slightly more moist than I would like.

Eventually, I settled on the bareminerals Mineral Veil loose powder. Their powder is nice and fine and perfectly suits my needs.

Even though I didn’t find the Laura Mercier powder to be my favorite, I’ll still save this sample and use it in a pinch!

Cover FX – Custom Enhancer Drops in Moonlight

Cover FX drops have interested me for months now. I heard about their Custom Cover Drops at an in-store PLAY! event and have wanted to try them ever since.

These drops are slightly different but are still the same idea. All you have to do is add a few drops to your foundation and then apply to the areas of your face where you’d like a little highlight.

I’m not the best at highlighting my face. I usually stay away from contouring products, because I don’t want to accidentally make myself look like a clown! However, these drops were super easy to use! I’m going to save them for special events when I want to add a little extra glow to my face.
